SAN Pkanoisco, Sept. 17. The clnlms
of Andrew MoKlnstry and the heirs of
Patrick Shields against Chllo aro again
ntrractlng attention. Tho men were sail
ors on the American ship Keweonnw, und
in 1801, whllo in Valparaiso, wore beaten
by the Chilean police Shields afterwards
died from his Injuries. Tho claim for
damages by the United States was not al
lowed, It being found that tho men were
British subjects. Lord Rosebery cham
pioned their cause, however, and another
tribunal, composed of German, British
and Chilean subjects, is now considering
the claim.
