L BE BOOMI Important Piece of News Concerning Mining Operations. OBJECT OF WORK AT WADESYILLE The Shaft Being Sunk at That Place Is Not an Experiment; But Part of a Flan to Consolidate Operations Wlth.Ecech.wood. Speclnl to Evening. Herald. Pottsvillk, Sept. 4. A surprising piece of news lias just leaked out in tho coal circles of tliis place and will bo very much relished by tho property owners of Pottsvillo and St. Clair, especially tho latter place. For somo time past the Philadelphia & Reading Coal & Iron Company lias had men engaged in sinking a big shaft at Wadesvllle, a suburb of St. Clair, ami those who felt sulllcicntly interested in tho matter to in quire as to tho object of tho work wcro in formed that it was more of an experiment than anything else and would probably bo used to re-open some old workings in tho vicinity to seo if they could be operated profitably. Tho Hkkalii'h correspondent is in passoss ion of an exclusive piece of information which puts an entirely dill'ereut and much more interesting and gratifying phase on the matter. I am reliably informed that tiio object ill sinking tho shaft will ho the basis of a boom to St. Clair and probably revive tho quiet little town to a stato of activity similar to that it experienced in its palmiest days. The shaft is to lie connected with the Beechwood colliery at Mt. Lalleo by tunnels and the breaker at tho latter placo is to bo abandoned for a now, large and modern breaker which will bo erected at the shaft now being sunk. Tho expense of connecting tho two places will bo considerable aud givo employment to a largo force of men for some time. The benefit that St. Clair, Pottsvillo and tho vicinity will derive from tho change is in calculable. A property owner of that place, when informed of the proposed work to-daj said tho news would cause great lejoicing there. readies I Peaches!! Y'eaclies!!! Tho last of the season.
