midnight Profossor W. E. Reynolds shot
and killed Pat Shea, a young white man
of this oounty, who was on Hoynolds'
front porch nnd whom Reynolds thought
was a burglar. It appoars, however, that
Shoa was In an Intoxicated condition and
did not know what ho was doing. Rey
nolds Is a professor in tho military college
horo, and is ono of the most prominent clt
liens. Shea was about 30 yoars of ago nnd
a law abiding man. Tho coroner's jury
rendered a verdict of justlflnblo homicido.

received a statement from Chnrlbs Dick
inson, who wns on tho panel from which
tho Jury wns choson, which Is vory dam
aging to tho defense. Dickinson swears
that on tho Monday night boforo tho trial
began Jacob S. Williams, cashier of tho
Bank of Thin, wont to jlm nt his farm
house and said thnt If in caso ho was se
lected for a Juror and would stand out for
acquittal there would bo big money In It
for him, and If ho would succeed In hang
ing tho Jury thero would bo good money
In It. Williams said thnt he would see
that the money was paid. Tho next day,
Dickinson says, he was approached by
Richard Smith, a brothor-ln-law of Bar
noy Hudson, who Is now on tho Jury, and
Smith mado tho same proposition thnt hnd
boon mado by Williams. Dickinson Is one
of tho most roputablo mon In the county.
Thero Is great Indignation in Carroll
oounty that a jury could bo found horo to
do anything but convict tho Taylors, ns no

Marshal Wilson, of Browning, says that
