Hood tt Co., Lowell, Mass.: " Gentlemen : Four years last January I was taken down with sub-acute rheumatism which located at the base of the brain. It was eight weeks less one day before I was able to walk out of the house and after months of suffering and much pain I feared I Would Never Bo Well. My physician advised mo to use Hood's Sarsa parilla. After taking It In half doses for two weeks I felt better, so at different times after wards I used It awhile and during tho last year I have again been restored to Invigorated health by It. I attribute my restoration to health to the use of Hood's Sarsaparilla. My son has had catarrh since quite young and last summer .while attending school be used two bottles of IHooffsCures Hood's Sarsaparilla and said It did him mor. mod than he realized from tioo for prescrip tions, etc." Noah J. Tho two young men worked during vacations, as Holmes had dono in the cast. About twelve, years ago, ono summer, they were short of funds, nnd Holmes' friend thought of an insur ance swindle, in which a bogus body was to bo used. Tho friend, now a physician, hail his llfo insured for 112,000; the body was procured In Chicago; tho identifica tion with tho Insured doctor was made, and Holmes collected the money. The schomo was repeated several times. On one occasion Holmes insured his own llfo for tSO.OOO. Then lie went to a hotel In Ithode Island, wearing a beard. Ho got a body, took It two miles from tho hotel, cut tho head off, and buried tho rest, lie shaved, went to tho hotel, regis tered under a now name, and asked for Holmes. They said he had gono out, but was stnying at tho hotel. The swindler took the head, charred It in the hotel fur naco and tried to identify it as his own. This particular scheme fell through. An account is given of tho mysterious disappearance of a young womun who was Intimate with Holme. The story was continued by the criminal himself lu his conversation with Crawford. In Chicago, ho suld, whero he wa living with his sec ond wlfe.hc became Intimate with nyoung girl, a typewriter. He furnished apart ments for her, where she was visited by her sister, oldrthnu she. The young girl, infatuated with Holmes, becumo jealous of her sister, and one day, in his absence, brained bur with a stool. "When I came back," continued tho swindler, "I found tho dead body In tho rooms. I took tho corpse, put it in a trunk and sunk it In tho lake. This was a year and a half ugo. The younger sis ter, in danger of arrest for murder, was anxious to escape. She owned some prop erty at Fort Worth amounting to $10,000 Pitezel and 1 took this property off her hands and gave her money to fly the coun try. "Wo thou bought horses, getting credit on the strength of tho Fort Worth prop erty. But the deeds weren't straight, aud we needed money to keep the thing going. So the two of us agreed to work the Insur ance scheme again, and that's how this trouble began." Miulgutt's Enrly Life. TILTON, N. H., Nov. 21. II. II.
