twelve months old child, siillerlng from

Electric Railway Trip.
A pnrtyof prominent Phtlndelphln nnd
Pottsvllle ladies nnd gentlemen enjoyed
a tilp over the electric railways north of
the Broad mountain to-day as the guests
of the Schuylkill Traction Company and
the Lakeside Electric Railway Company,
nnd under the escort of Major John F.
Finney. The pnrty arrived here at noon
via the Pennsylvania Railroad nnd left
for Mahanoy City via the Lakesioe Elec
tric Railway. Dinner was served nt tho
Knier House by Mine Host Burchlll,
after which the pnrty stnrted for a trip
over the Traction Company's liuet.
Among the prominent members of the
pnrty were W. A. Barrett, Jr., treasurer
of the Schuylkill Electric Railway Com
pany nnd president of the Car Equipment
Company, Philadelphia ; Mrs. W. A.
Barrett, Jr., Mrs J. B. Stuart, wife of
the general superintendent of the Schuyl
kill Electric Rallwny Compnny; Frank
Barrett and Mr. E. Nusbaum. The trip
over the electric lines will end with n re

If negotiations now pending are carried
to a successful termination the striking
car builders at Pullman will quit the
"model town" In a body and become the
employes of n powerful now corporation
organized for tho manufacture of palace
nnd freight cars nnd day coaches. "The
corporation which Is making these offers
means business," said a capitalist who
has had a part in the negotiations, "and
tf a definite arrangement can be made all
of the skilled mechanics at Pullman will
be hired in a body."

twp years, or by a lino of not more than

Baltimore, July 30. Captain Molller,
ol the Bteamer II. II. Meier, from Bremen,
reports that in latitude 40.86 north, and
longitude 60.31 west, about ten miles
soiith of Nantucket lightship, the Meier
almost ran Into a wreck of a copper bot.
