that the cause of home rule is materially
advanced by the action of the commons.
Doubt is expressed as to whether the min
istry will resign and go to tho country on
such a close vote, yet without an appeal
to the country the voto Is regarded as pro
foundly significant ns reflecting the ten
dencies of the English people.
