What lias become of RepresentR-
MveLosch'0 Arbitration bill?
Wjiukbday the Kensington work
ingiiitm had a taste of good (?) Df mo
emtio times.
Ii Wilson's tariff bill becomes a law
all tliHt Jlio rebels fought for will have
been achieved.
Hi;adino Is h good KHinhllng town,
a second Shenandoah. The suckers are
very plentiful there.
Much good wan expected by the
patwitgeof Loach's Arbitration bill last
winter. What Is the use of laws If
they are not enforced?
Tins Democrats are counting on a
Kilkenny cat fight among the Re
publicans when the oltlcera take their
places on the "Hill" next month.
'1'jiosk who were most benefitted by
the help, which wasgiveu Shenandoah
after the big lire in 1SS2, have given
little or nothing to the Kenslnjzton
sufferers. Come, gentlemen, mis
fortune does not pick its victims aud
you may need help again.
Govkknok Pattison, in refusing to
call out the militia to nut down the
Lehigh Valley etriUers, did so for the
purpose of posing before the public as
a friend of labor, but he did not refuse
to appoint as special coal and iron
police hundreds of men recommended
to him by Wilbur. The Governor's
posing won't work.
A HOWL OF PROTEST.
The country has risen against the
proposed new tarlil measure, which
the Democratic aggregation has
brought forward, in a manner that
might to make even these people
pause.
It is like the Republican gale which
swept over the country in the recent
elections only more so.
The people may have been deceived,
but bo have many before, but the
"Him Hammer," tho bunco steeror,
the three card monte man cannot keep
up his game forever, and the victims
are liable to awake to a sense of their
deception.
So it has been in this tariit business.
The people were deceived but now
they know It.
As a result they are howling against
the proposed measure with a voice so
vigorous that it does great credit to
their common tense.
The objection to the "Wilsou bill Is
But confined to any one locality, but Is
widespread. This Is due to the fact
that in the promulgation of the meas
nr tbe people Hud themselves face to
fee with the Inside tricks of- the game
by which tbe Democrats film flammed
themselves into power.
They see now that all this talk
about netting things for half price
voder tbe new tariff is nonsense, in
view of the fact that they are likely
not only to have in their pockets half
price but no price at ail.
They see that manufacturers who
are able to continue at all will have to
do so by making tremendous cuts In
workmen's wages and that in many
Instances they will have to shut up
shops aud throw thousands on thou
sands outof work.
This U tbe universal comment of
the manufacturers and it Is beyond
refutation, too.
It is no wonder, In view of these
freta, that tbe people ere crying out
with loud voloe and It will be, in
Hm4, not only extraordinary, but
Infamous if la tbe Caw of tbese uni
mmtl ptatmtM tbe proposed Iniquitous
legislation It put through.
