King thinks the corn was washed down
the river and lodged in the slit, and has

have acquired by the recognition of their
government. Minister Thurston touched
the marrow of their hopes when he said
yesterday that any attempt to overturn
the present government by a foreign

congress. Congress will undoubtedly take

The fight, it is said, will lie made on tho
administration policy on this lino, that it
bas declared war without the consent of

posed policy if thu present government

so peaceful a proceeding could he ru

by the entire withdrawal of the Influence
of the United States, but that with tho
work of tho last administration once un
done a protoctrate may be established
over monarchy.
One clear and certain result of the pres
ent incident would seem to ho that annex
ation will never bo prolferod to the United
States by thi'llawaiinns again. If there
