Then the audience sang "God Save the

by Rev. Dr. Hoyt, of Minneapolis, on
"Christian Endeavor Possibilities," nnd

"I should suggest to the Christian En-
denvorers the cultivation of a larger and
more intelligent spirit of patriotism and
good citizenship; uot by joining any par
ticular party, but by bringing their vote
and influence to tho test of tlio Christian
Endeavor pledge; by not knowingly voting
for a Dad mnu or a bad measure. Such a
course would Impel politicians to Belect
better men for candidacies.
"So, in humbler ways, let your Influence
bo felt for every right cause I am glad,
for one, of the stand thnt Endeavorers
havo taken for the Christian and the
American Sabbath. I believe that the
course of tho society on this question has
set an example that we may wisely follow
in the future.
"Wo have proved, for one thing, that we

and now we, each one for himsolf without
judging others, will decide what he would
nave us do iu regard to going to tho expo
sition or staying away from it.
"Let It bo understood that there is no
power or wish in the Endeavor society to
compel uniformity, or to force the con
sciences of Its members in regard to the
World's fair or any other subject. This
convention can pass no votes or resolutions
that are binding upon individuals or so
cieties, nor can nny state or local union,
but it can and should lead us in tnls and
every such matter more fully to recoscnize
our individual responsibility as citizens as
well as Christian men nnd women."
