readiness for completing the South Moun
tain railroad from the Schuylkill to tho
Susquehanna river, through the counties
of Berks, Lebanon and Dauphin. Work
will bo commenced this week on the sec
tlon between this city and Bemville. The
greater pm t of the roadbed has been com
pletcd from Bernville to Grantville, Dau-
pniu county.
Two Men Criihd tn Death.
Easton, June 0. While John Cole, aged
uliout 30, and George Baltzi, a:red 45, were
breaking up stone in the Lizzie Clay and
Pulp Company's quarry yesterday, a milo
north of 1'hillipsburg, N. J., a slide oc
curred and they were buried under 100
inns of rock. The. bedies were recovered n
ew hours later. Both were terribly man
led. Baltzi leaves a wife and Ave chil
dren.

pany Inaugurated a new policy In Its coal
traffic and sent out no trains on Sunday.

A rule of the firm Is that no employe
shall lean over the slats which fence In the
elevator shaft on each floor. Sarah wns
employed on the eighth floor.
John Rice, the elevator man, ran the
platform elevator to the ninth floor. With
out thinking of the risk she was running
Sarah leaned over the railing of the eighth
door to talk down the shaft to n Mend on
a floor bolow. While In this position the
elevator descended, striking her head
and forcing It against the rail. Her neck
wns broken and death wns instantaneous.
Several girls who witnessed the horrible
accident became panic stricken and ran
down stairs yelling fire, several of them

learning of the accident, fled, and has not
yet been found.
