old Lena Dunn, of Kansas striet, who fell
from the becoud-story window of her home
Friday niomiiitf, was in tho best of spirits
yesterday, when a reporter called. Her
father, Jacob Dunn, suld that he hud nil he
could do to make her keep quiet, for sho
was uuiious to leave the homo to plnywlth
her little friends. Just before she fell out
of the window she sat on the ledge, and,
when her mother wnsn't looking, she
braced her foot against the foot of the bed
stead, which stood near. The straiu hurst
open the shutters and she went tumbling
out. The terriHod mother hastened down
stairs, expecting to find her child dead but
she was not hurt beyond a few slight
bruises.

not a pretty beast, but he helped ofllcers
Jehu Sheridan and Frank Cennell of Jersey
City capture a thief who was robbing a
freight oar in tho Krie railroad yards.
He held him by the leg until the police
men came up. The prisoner said his name
was John Iliggins of Breoklyn, and he was
looked up while the dog got a large bowl
of biead and milk and two bones which ho
teemed to enjoy immensely.

London, April 17. Ben Tillett, the well
known labor leader, oharged with having
inoited strikers to riot at BrUlol last Do.
cember, was fouud guilty Saturday even
ing. The jurors added to the verdict, how
ever, that though the prisoner was guilty
of using words calculated to cause a not,
they believed the words were spoken on
the spur of the moment and wero not
intended to provoke a breach of tho peace.

town, nnd seems to have plenty of money.

fleet Joseph S. Harris, of the Heading
Railroad, has set at rest all doubt as
to his acceptance of the piece by forwarding
to the secretaries of the railroad and coal

Taylor of the railroad company was as fol

Bedford, April 17. The defunct West
Virginia and Pennsylvania railroad, which
extends from Bedford to Brooks Mills, Blair
county, was sold by the sheriff Saturday to
satisfy claims amounting to $2.10,000. The
road was bought by John Cessna for $i0,
000. Mr. C'essuu has a judgment against
the company for $150,000. Col. W. W.
Dudley is ono of the officers of the com
pany. Judge White Sued for Slander.
PimBURG, April 17. Judge White, of
tho Allegheny court of Quarter sessions,
has been sued for $10,000 damages for
slander. Tho complaint was filed by Henry
Becker, an expressman In Sewiokley, where
the judge also resides. Judge White at au
unti-looal option meeting a few nights ago
said: "Why should we have a saloon in
ciewlckleyj Just give Becker 11 dollar and
he'll bring you all tho beer you want."

ilustrial Alliance, ra-ule up of various ele
ments of dissatisfied workmen, have pre
pared a circular for distribution among
all classes of organized labor. They claim

isfactory condition of working classes is in
