XERV A TWO ACCIDENTS AT KEHLEY RUN COLLIERY. GAUGHT BY A RUSH OF GOAL. A Shipper's Arm Caught Botwoon tho Bumpers of Coal Cars, Noither Accldont Very SorlouB. WO accidents at Kcliloy Kun colliery formed qui to a co-Incident j cs- terdiiy afternoon. The victiruaof Hie accidents wcro John. W. Iloskins and Gcorgb W. David son, but neither was injured seriously. Ilos kins had a knee joint twisted and Davidson suffered a crusli of tho right arm. Ho narrowly escaped losing it. When Hoskius was at work In a breast of the colliery thero was a sudden rusli of coal. Iu striving to get away Iloskins was caught by tho coal and when ho tried to release, his right leg ho dislocated the knee joint. IIo was taken to his homo on South Plum alloy and among those who helped to tako him thero was his brother-in-law, George W. Davidson. Davidson U employed as a shipper at tho Kohley Eun colliery. After assisting in tak- ng Iloskins homo ho returned to tho breaker, As a loailed train pulled out a coupling broko and Davidson hastened to niako another coupling. As ho was in the act tho bumpers mot and caught his right arm, just below tho elbow. All who saw tho accldont felt sure that tho arm was either cut oil' or so badly crushed that amputation would bo necessary, but upon examining the limb they were sur prised to find that only tho muscles of tho arm had been mashed. Dr. Kistler said no bones of tho arm wcro broken. Political Points. Now candidates are coming out daily. There is no law against running for an oflice. Tho members of tho Legislature aro pester ed almost to death for freo railroad passes. There is still hope for tho Doylcs. Clove land ha3 relented long'enongh to appoint two moro newspipor men to ofllco. Charley Hagonbuch is making a rattling canvass for tho Democratic nomination for County Commissioner. Union township statosmcu aro slow in making themselves heard In this campaign Perhaps they do not know where they aro at just now. Tho not content with fixing "slates" for the county, is reaching out for both state and national. Representative Coylo wants our anthracite industries well represented at tho World's Fair. It was ho who introduced a bill to ap propriate $00,000 additional for tho commis sion. Senator Monaghnu has a bill before tho Sonate that is of some interest to tho people interested in insuranco It makes tho agents of companies their agents aud not tho agonts of tho insured; it makes policiw nonforfeit able, and all representations of agonts to bo oomo a part of tho contract and to be attach ed thereto. "What is Tammany to get from Cleveland?" people aro asking in Washington. Judging strictly by tho rast, Tammany will probably get loft. Tho Pennsylvania Democratic Congress ional Combine, after hiving camped on President Cleveland's trail three weeks and secured nothing but one measly post office, has beaten a retreut. Now watch Harrity press the button. Postinastor-General Bisscll does not want to see bright young men wasting their timo and talents us government clerks. To a young applicant for olllco from Alabama be said : "Take some advico. You seom to bo intelligent. You aro very young. Go hoiuo; Quit spending your money on your back. Bo somobody. Don't put in your timo in endeavoring to secure a position in which your best years would be wasted. Good day." G rover Invariably makes a centre shot. It is Mid that so many Pennsylvania candidates for positions besiege him that when a couple influential men from this state called tbo other day, Cleveland alluded to tho fact, and wild jokingly: "Gentlemen when I look at the Pennsylvania applloatlons I am at a loss to understand why I didn't carry the state." A corps of surveyors to day commenced laying out the proposed electric railway which is to connect this town with Ellen gowan, St. Nicholas aud Mabanoy City. It is proposed to run the connection from the main lino at tho ooruer of Main and Centre streets down East Centro street to a point this sido of the last house on the south side of that street. The road will then leave the public highway and run on the embankment behind the house mentioned until it strikes the road abovo Indian Itidge colliery. The lino will thenlrun a short distance towards Yatesvllle and then turn south and again cross tho Ellengowan road, thus avoiding tho steep grade and tho knoll just above Indian Kidgo broakor. After striking tho Ellen gowan road tho second timo tho lino will run noe.r tho old picnio grounds to make its way near tho Ellengowan colliery and over to St. Nicholas. But these plans may be chaugod after the surveyors finish their work and make a report. Tho object in ' not following tho highway from hero to St. Nicholas is to avoid heavy grades. THREE RUNAWAYS.
