SOLVING THE MYSTERY.
(iuess ut tho Cauau at a Couplu's Tribula
tions Just as the 9:10 train was leaving tho Lo
high depot this morning an elderly man and
woman ran along the depot platform crying,
"Where is Mr. Davis, hold on there, where is
ho?" Tho man addressed the question to
any ono standing about who might see fit to
answer, while tho worn in gazed at the pass
ing cars. Tho conductor put his hand up to
tho rope, prepnred to stop the train upon
signal, supposing tho couple had been lefi
behind, but as no ono signalled him to step
tho train went on and soon disappeared from
sight in the cut. "Where is Mr. Davis V
the couple repeated in chorus. "Ho is in the
depot," somo one answered. The man and
woman wero very much excited. Tiie former
hurried up to C, & I. Policeman Bedea, "Are
you Mr. Davis?" Upon receiving a negative
answer he again aud again gave utterance to
tho question. Meanwhile tho lolsureites
weie giusfrlng upon the cause of tho couple's
excitement. Deputy Tax Collector Hlggins
s.ild it was something about a dog. Ex-Col
lector Knclel said he heard that the woman
hitd her trunk put ou tho wrong train. An
other bystander said that both wero wrong.
The man hud iutended to take his wifo to
PotlBvillo for a day out aud when he got to
the depot ho found that he had left his
pocket hook at home. Tho excited couplo
would say nothing to tho bystanders only
"Wherois Mr. Davis?" When they found
that gentleman it was learned that all the
guesses wero wide of tho mark.
"Mr. Davis," exclaimed tho man, "don't
you let that organ out thero go,
it was stoleu out of my house. Tho answer
was tha tho company could not decide such
questions and upon tho suggestion of the
agent the couple started m search of a jus
tire. The mystery was then solvod. Upon
tho organ, which stood In tho freight house,
was a tag bearing the address of a well
known installnu nt house. Then everybody
joined Iu choruj, "I thought It was sciuo
thing like that."
