Nothing as yet has been done by cither
party to call a meeting of tho respective com
mittees. Littlo over a month remains In
which to nomlnato candidates and got tho
olcctlon machinery in operation under tho
now law, so there is not much timo to sjwro.
There are numerous candidates for tho
ditlerent otllces, but theyaro reluctant to
make their announcements known through
tho papers at the present time.
Tho nroscnt incumbents of the offices of
Chief Uurgoss and High Constable will bavo
determined oppposition in tho ranks of tho
party to which tboy belong, while for Ito-
eelver of Taxes tbo present incumbent may
havo a clear track. He has proved himself a
safo and reliable official and ho deserves to
bo ro-nominated by his party.
In the several wards there will be a great
scramblo and several bitter contests, cspec
ially will this be the case in the Third ward.
If the Citizens wish to hold their own in
tho coming election they will have to get a
move upon themselves, otherwise tho party
will awaken to find itself in a very small
minority.
