That tho American pcoplo arc becoming a
raco of travelers Is evident from tho completo
and cholco arrangoment of pleasure tours
whicli is set before them by tho Pennsylvania
itallroad Company for tho season of 1893.
First comes a sorles to tho Ooldcn Gate,
leaving Now York, Philadelphia, and liar-
rlshurg February 8th, March 2nd and 89th,
1803. Tourists will travel by superbly-ap
pointed special trains of Pullman drawing
room, sleeping, dining, smoking, and obser
vation cars, under tho supervision of a
Tourist Agent and Chaperon.
Then follows a series of fivo to Jackson
ville January 31st, February 14th and 2Sth,
March 14th and 28th, 1803. Tho first four
admit of two whole weeks In tho sunny
South, whilo tickotfl for tho fifth tour are
good to return by regular trains until May
30th, 1B93. Tho round trip rato Is but $50
from New Tork and, $48 from Philadelphia,
and nronortlonatoly low rates from other
stations.
A series to Washington, D.C., leavo Decem
ber 15th and 20th, 1602; January 10th, i
February 0th, March 23d, April 13th, and
May 4th and 2.1th, 1803. Each tour covers a
period of three days, and rato includes all
necessary traveling expenses and board at the
National Capital.
Last of all, tho Pennsylvania Railroad
Company announces that It, during the
month of August, 1803, tho date to bo an
nounced later, proposes ruunlng a distinct
lour to tho Ycllowstono National Park. It
will bo conducted on tho sanio general
principles, and maintained at that high
standard manifested on all the Pennsylvania
liailroad Company's icrsonally-couductcd
tours.

The case has excited deep Interest in
EtiKlnnd on account of tho suicide of Mrs.
Maude, mother of the prisoner, after the
arrest of her daughter.
The mother was herself the dauintcr ot
a Persian Princess, who was mnriied to
an English physician In India named
Campbell. Mrs. Maude was a woman of
unusual boauty. Slio maintained a costly
establishment, with a number of servants,
and appears to have supported herself, in
part, nt least, by obtaining costly arti
cles from tradesmen, and subsequently
pawning or disposing of them.
The daughter was used as a messenger
to ordor the goods, and also to aid in
getting rid of them.
Tho girl hnd only been carrying out her
mother's ordors, and in consequence the
court suspended sentence.

Londok. Dec. 15. The body ot Patrick
Macdrury of Brooklyn, New York, has
Just been found In tho hold of the Anchor
llno steamer Bolivia, nt Glasgow Iroin
New York, embedded in tho grain.
This shows that the mother and friends
of Macdrury were correct In their belief
that he had boen smothered In the grain
when tho steamship was being loaded,
and that his bodv vas In tho grain.
While ihe vessel Tas loading at Brook.
lvu Maodrury was working In one of the
hatches of tho vessel. Tho Import cargo
from the third hatch had been taken out
and a lighter alongside was chuting
grain Into it at tho rate of several tons a
minute.
The officers ot the ship wero of the
nninion that Maodrury had gone ashore.
and in snite of the suspicion that his body
was in the grain the loading of the ve'sel
was permitted to go onwithout luterrup
tion.
Mrs. Macdrury went to tho steamer
diitraoted with erlof and anxiety, and
nsked the officers not to go to soa with
tho bodv of her son. They held to th
opinion that ho was not aboard and sailed
cway.
