New Haven, Nov. 18. The Yale foot
ball team will leave this city this after
noon for Springfield, whcro to-morrow
afternoon will occur tbo great contest
with Harvard. Tho team took the last
practice yesterday afternoon.
Host of the team were In good playing
condition and the rushes were fierce and
rough. Tho team had played but a few
minutes whon L. T. ttliss, right half back,
opened a wound In his Uuee and was
compelled to retire.
An examination showed that the In
Jury Is not serious, but the chances nre
against his pluylng to-morrow. Ho is
very nnxious to take part in the game
uud may, in case his knoo iuiprovos SUM
ciently, be given a chaaco to enter the
game for a few minutes, but It will be
absolutely Impossible for him to stand
the strain of the entire game.
His absence makes it certain that his
brother, C. V. Miss, who has been first
substitute halt back for three yaars, but
who has never yet taken part in a Har
vard or Princeton game, will be given a
chance at Spriugliuld.
PeWIH, a member of the Freshman
class, has been playing a phenomenal
game the past fortnight, and in cas
Gruvcs ulso Is disabled, ho will take his
place as left half back. The eleven has
practiced three times a day the past fort
night and sevoral of tho men are thought
to bo overtrained. All of their pracilco
during that time liu been secret and de
signed to perfect the players in the now
tricks which the twelve coLichers, who
have been in constant attendance upon
the eleven, have been teaching them.
A special force of six experienced rub
bers have been engaged to keep the men
iu us good physical condition as polhlo
till the struggle opens. Yule men will
ask large odds on the game Saturday be
cause of tho crippled coudition of the
team owing to the injuries of Bliss and
Sanford, which will prevent their playing.

BbsTOy, Nov. 18. Tho Harvard foot
ball team, which will meet Yale at
Springfield to-morrow, took its last prac
tice at Cambridge yesterday, and demon
strated that its game will be u strong one.
The team will consist of Brewer, full
lack; Uray and Lake, half backs; Traf
ford, quarter back; Hallowell, right end;
Newell, right tackle; Macule, right, guard;
Lewis, centre; Waters, left guard; Up
ton, left tackle, ond Emmons, left end.
Lee, Corbett, and FuirchilJ, will bo sub
stitutes. Nearly every man has been through the
ordeal of a Yale game, and tho new men
ure such "thoroughbreds" that they will
more than 1111 the shoes of their prdeces-
wrs. The coming contest has no terrors
lor them. 'Iheyhavonow been working
together steadily under the coachers for u
month.
The noluts of weakness, In all probabil
lty, will be Mackio at right guard, aud
Trafford at quarter bact.

Whether these U5 will vote for Mrs,

zreut influence with them, and to prevent

A. L. Williams of the Union Pacific
railroad says:
"Iee no constitutional reason why Mrs,

nothing to prevent it but the idea that
Senator should be a man. I hope she
will be elected. She would keep the
Senators nretty busy if they tent her
