AMUSEMENT NOTES.
ltefercnces to Ferguson Tlieiltro Coming
Attraction.
"Tho success which greeted the Sliackford
Opera Company at tho l'nlaco theatre last
week wns something phenomenal. Tho per
formanco of " Said Pasha " was a lino artistic
success, and It did not take long for tho
theatre-going public of this city to awaken
to that fact and crowd tho theatro to heartho
musical and dramatic treat which was in
store for thorn." Philadelphia Item. "Said
I'asha" will bo produced at Ferguson's
thontre to-night by tho Shackford Opera
Company.
" UNDERGROUND."
If you havo never been down in a mino go
and see " Underground," tho great drama ol
lifo in tho coal Teglons, and you can readily
sco the great dangers encountered daily by
the vast army of toilers in this immediate
region. Tho story Is bright and interesting
and the company, headed by that capable
actor, Frank Karrington, is ouo of the
strongest on tho road.
ll.NOCII ARIlKN.
Tennyson's "Enoch Ardcn" with Charles
J. Stevenson in tho titlo rolo was tho attrac
tion at Ferguson's theatre last ovcnlng.
Considering tho character of tho play, it is
astonishing that so few people wcro present.
Tho story is a beautiful ouo and, if under
stood, would bo highly appreciated. Many
of tho best features wcro eliminated, but for
11 that, tho play was enjoyable. Mr. Steven
son, at tho close of tho fourth act, appeared
before tho curtain, and complimented tho
nudienco on tho respectful attention that had
been given, and said that, although it was
his first visit to Shenandoah, it would not bo
his last
nooD music.
This evening "Said l'aslia" will bo sung by
tho Shackford Opera Co., and all lovers of
good music should take advantago of this
opportunity to hour tho opera that created
such a furor in all tho lending cities. If the
peoplo will support tho management, all tho
best attractions on tho road will bo brought
licro. Don't fail to go to tho opera to-night
and show your approval of first class entor
tainmcnts.
