E may expect lively news in connection with the construction of the Ponntylvnnla Railroad's Girardvillo branch. Tho com piny'B turveys lined tho routo on the mountain south of the Turkey Run colliery breaker, but a change was made ncctsjary on account of tho P. fc R. 0. & I. To get undor the breaker It will bo necessary for tho "Penney" to cut away timbers to make a passage wido enough and when tho work ot making tho passage begins tho fun will bloom. Italians have started work on the now branch near tho Shenandoah Citj colliery and tho Turkey Run colliery episode will not materialize forsuveral days to come. . I notice a paragraph in the Bluefield, (W. Vn.) Railway and Mining Journal that speaks as lollows concerning one ot our townsmen : "Mr. Harry S. The action of tho Borough Council In adopting an ordinance authorizing the borrowing ol money for public wator works is a subject of considerable discus sion. A quotuon has been raised as to whether or not the Councilmon who Toted for tho adoption have violated the injunc tion granted by the court and which is still in force pending argument. If there is a violation the members who so voted are liable to be hauled up for contempt of court. . POPULAR ONE DAY Trips to the Sea Shore via Pennsylvania Itallruutl. At this season a day taken for recreation is never without good results. Stanton, Chief Burgess Smith and George Folmer were also on hand S. G. M. Hollopeter, Esq., T. R. Beddall, Esq., and a number of others were presont to urge tho division. Col. Frick was chair man of the meeting. 'Squire Monaghan and Mr. Hollopeter stated that the neces sity for making tbo division was conceded and thd 'squire added that tho only differ ence of opinion was on tho division lines. Ho produced a map which, ho thought, showed n fair division. Aftor considerable discussion over tho map Col, Frick decided to adjourn and give the petitioners until tbo 27th inst. to prepare and produce a map. 'Squire Monaghan was opposed to any delay, but the Colonol ovorruled his objection. There now appears to be no doubt about a division being made. In fact it doos not seem that tbo viewers will consider that question at all, but will devoto the atten tion to the fixing of dividing lines. Neirsimper Comment. The Shenandoah Sunday iVtioj comes out tquaroly in favor of the County Com missioners, together with whatever ex travagance, misappropriation of money and all thoy may bo guilty of, Tho Ncics is also the self-appointed champion of the Independent candidate for President Judge and bristles all ovor with madness because, with the exception of the Ashland Telegram, all tho daily papers in the county and nearly every weekly in tho same territory endorsed the action of tho Auditors by resolution for tho investiga lion of the monetary affairs of tho county, in which some astonishing developments havo resulted. But this a free country ind the A'fwj is fully entitled to its opinions, which, howevor, will not avail in putting a stop to the investigation now in progress on the WAX. Grey Gables and Loon Lake will go down in political history as tho resting places for presidential candidates. If Congress had remained in session another fortnight, tho Democrats wouldn't havo carried a Northern state in November. As it is, they have a fighting chance to carry New Jersey, but even there tho tide, is against them. They are Republicans, and, if they bo honest men, thoy will voto for Harrison. Wo don't want them, Louisville Courier-Democrat. Shortly after entering upon my profession, I discovered such a romedy in Allcock's Porous Plasters. I tiled other plasters, but found them too harsh and irritating, Allcock's Porous Plasters give almost instantaneous relief, and their strengthening power is remarkable. In cases of weak back put two plasters on tho small ol tho back and In a short time you will be capable of quite severe exercise. In "sprint" and "distance" races and jumping, the muselos or tendons in the logs and feet sometimes weaken. This can in variably be relieved by cutting the plaster in narrow strips, so as to give free motion, and applying on muscles affected."
