If strikes are duo to the Tariff, why are there two strikes In Free-Trade England to every one in the United States? If Protection is unconstitutional, why were the framers of the Constitu tion Protectionists? If Free-Trad ere are really the friends of the farmers; why did they abolish the duty on the farmers' wool? If free raw materials would give ua the "markets of the world," why are our imports of cotton goods far In excess of the exports? If the proteotcd United States la not prosperous, why are we the only nation in the wide world that has no emigrants ? If the tariff is 'a "tax," why can you buy numberless articles for loss than the very duty which is imposed on them ? If protection la opposed on tho ground that our industries are no longer "infants," why don't the Cob denltes support the tin-plate duty? If your higher wages are due to the greater efficiency of American work ingmen, why do foreigners who come here receive two and three tiinea as much as If paid for th6 same work in their1 own country ? If the House of Representatives was not laboring In the Interests of the British Cordage Trust, why did it pass the free blnding-twlno bill? If a revenue tariff does not cause pauperism, why were there more paupera in New York during the revenue taritt of '46 than ever before or ever after? If free trade la patriotlo why do free tradera always sneer at every thing American ? Are there any Americans doing n business In Bhenaddoab that they need be afraid to make known tho impositions upon them? It begins to look that way. Gentlemen, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose by coming forward and make your complaint. The poor devils, who aro compelled to deal In company b tores are paying higher prices for tho goods they buy, -will thank you if you break the yoke. The Democrat In Congress who helped to pass the World'a Fair ap- nronriatlon have done these three things: They have violated the ConBtl tution, they have put f5,OOO,OO0 Into the Bepubllcan campaign fund, and they have settled finally and adverse ly the question of Brother Stevenson's ability to carry Illinois for the Dent flcrncy this year. Jf, Y. Sun,.(Dem.) It la possible that Nestor Dana's fears of Negro Domination In the patient, submissive, ncgro-lovlug city of New York, where they burn negro homes and hospitals now and then,. Inspire him to excessive zeal on the nice Issue; but no such apprehensions are cherished in Philadelphia, While every great industry of our city Is moioor loa piralyed by high war taxes In time of peace. Phila. Times, Dent. The Homestead rioters are finding out that killing people is a serious business. Not only have several of their leaders been put under heavy bonds to anevver at court for their re aponslbllty In the riot, but one of the men who was recognized aa having actually fired at the barges has been committed without ball on a charge cf murder In the first degree. These people will not bo so ready with their guns hereia'ter. TWO HARVEST EXCURSIONS Ala the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. l'uul ll'y, August 30, and September ST.
