tiarre, May Live.
WiLKESBAimE, Pa., July 20. Alexan
der Eggleston, who murdered his wife
Wednesday night, shot nt his son nnd
then flred a bullet through his head, is
still altve. He wns pronounced dead and
laid beside tho body of his wife, but when
tne coroner reacneu the House, which hart
been locked pending his nrrival, ho found
that Eggleston had thrown off tho covert
lng placed ovor-hlm and had crawled to
the door.
He was removed to the hospital, where
his case was pronounced a remarknble
one, as the bullet passed clear through
his head.
A silver tube has been run through the
fuirowand there is a possibility of his
living.

report of B. Walker McBTeen, secretary of
the State Board of Agriculture, for
1891-'93 will be Issued shortly. He
says that thd general outlook for farmers
.seems to be improving, and not only the
tendency toward, better times for agricul
tural products, but the farmers never
seomed more hopeful than now,

steamship Petunia, Capt. Owen, has lust

foundland, with a cargo of pyrite ore af
ter a perilous voyage, having been Im
prisoned in the ice in the northern regions
of the Bay of Notre Dame. From the de
scription given by Uupt Owen -of the ice
blockade It is predicted that tho relief
steamer Kite, which has gone .to toe res
cue of Lieut. Peary and party, will have
a rough time vvorKlng her way north
ward through tho ice, and her crew may
have to endure many hardships.

PrrTSBuno, July 20. Tank No. 17, of
the Southwest Pennsylvania Pipe Line
Company, six miles from Washington,
was struck by Hshtnlng duriup; a ' thun
der storm Wednesday night. It contain
ed 27,000 barrels of oil. When it burst
the burning fluid spread to other tanks,
and soon twenty in all were on lire. The
flames are still raging, notwithstanding
tho efforts of some 800 men who have been
fighting the flame since they began.
