"BOB" FORD WIPED OUT.
The Slayer of Josso James Moots a Violent
Death in Creede, Col.
Cheedk, Col., June I). "Bob" Ford,
the slayer of Jesse James, was shot by
Deputy Sherill Kelly in his dance
hall last eveuiug. Kolly was standing
at the door talking to a woman. An un
known man was seen to hand Kelly a
doublo-barrellad shotgun, when ho
topped into the hall and called, "Bob!"
Ford turned around when but live feat
away and placed his hand ou his hip
pocket.
K elly raised his gun and fired a load
of buckshot full in Ford's neck, severing
the windpipa and jugular vein, nnd
killing him instantly.
I'ord and Kelly had somo troublo In
Pueblo some time ago, and tho killiug
is thought to be an outgrowth ot that.

Great Activity of lttisslan Troops.
Vienna, June 0. Dispatches from
Lemborg say that much excitement has
been caused on the frontier by the extra
ordinary movements of Russian troops
this week. In the province of Dublin,
the commandor of the Touaohoff garri
son mobilized all the regular troops and
reserves within a radius of 10 miles ana
marched them out 30 miles toward the
Austrian border. Many peasants' sons
were forced to turn out with the re
serves, leaving the fields half planted.

England Inter-Colleglato Football Asso
ciation was formed here yesterday,
made up of Williams, Amherst and
Dartmouth colleges. A new constitu
tion was adopted satisfactory to the
three colleges, ami the rules of the
American Inter-Collegiate Football As

Veteran of Three Wars Dead.
Teenton, N. J,, Juno 9. Charles
Lyons, a veteran of the Mexican and
Seminole wars, as well as that of the
Rebellion, is dead hero, aged 87 years.
lie was n native of Ireland, but when
still a youth came to America. Since
tho Rebellion he has bean a sub-contractor
in this city.

were passengers on the City of New

Cornell-Columbia llace Postponed.
Iihaoa, N. Y. June 9. Several thou
sand people went down to the lake yes
terday afternoon with the expectation
of seeing tile race between the Columbia
and Cornell Freshmen eights. After
waiting from i o'olock, until dark they
returned. At 7 p.m. Referee Whitney
ordered the crews out. Cornell im
mediately took Its place at the starting
boat. After an hour's vexatious delay,
Columbia slowly paddled up to the
start, but said they had water In their
boat and could not raw unless allowed
to go ashore and get it out. As It was
then quite dark Iteferee Whitney de
cided to postpone the eyont until to
day at 4 p. m.

London, June 0. The directors of the
new Oriental Bank at a meotiug last
evening decided to suspend. The lia
bilities will amount to 7,250,000 ster
ling, besides tho liability ou a paid up
capital of 000,000. The value of the
assets is not ascertained, but an early
statement is expected.
The announcement has caused a tre
mendous sensation in financial oiroles,
especially among traders and brokers in
terested in the East. The bank has never
managed to get a quotation, and there
has for some time been apprehension as
to its seourity.
