AT A "kicker" once, always
QUAY a "kicker." Disappointed
AGAIN offlco seekers who will
saorlflce their party to "get even" on
a personal disappointment are to be
found in all parties, but the Republi
can ranks seem to contain the most of
such class. It Is such peoplo who are
again urging warfare against Senator
Quay. They are trying to make an
incision in the Republican ranks and
when they succeed they will gradually
t open the gash by disseminating false
L hoods until it will become large
enough to allow the enemy tocreeplu.
The anti-Quay rights are only pretexts
for disorganization. The pills are
prepared by the medicine men In the
Democratic wigwams and dealt out to
the ingrates of the Republican party
with the assurance that if properly
taken they will remedy their His.
The blind, silly d'sorganlzers take the
dose and swallow it according to di
rections; and when the time arrives
for their condition to ohange for the
better and it falls to do so, they appeal
to the Democratic pbysiclanB, who,
knowing they have excellent dupes in
the patients, sagely remark, "Quay is
doing it. You are better than you
were before you followed our direc
tions, but you can never completely
recover until you get rid of Quay."
Antl-Quaylsm Is a purely Demo
cratic institution with an "Indepen
dent" Republican railing surrounding.
It is the Democrats who want Quay
killed, nst the Republicans. The
renegado members of the latter party
who shout the battle cry are only
mere figure-heads knavish dupes.
- Bean the "Independent" Republican
field and whoro do you find the
leader the chairman of the state
committee ? Dealing out his libellous
matter from his headquarters in the
office of the Philadelphia Times.
We hear a great cry from Pittsburg
that several of her prominent citizens
have been converted to the anti-Quay
movement, and we find that two of
the most prominent of these men are
clients of Dalzell, one J. B. Ford, a
disappointed candidate for postmaster
at Pittsburg j and the other, H. D. YV.
English, who kicked because Senator
Quay did not put his father-in-law in
the McKeesport post ofllce. The anti
Quay men all over the state are
prompted by the same spirit aa that

which nettled their disciples In this
town -political disappointment.
Some of these .renegades are now
shifting from their former baBes and
claiming they are against Quay be
cause he 1b against Harrison. Quay's
friends say tuq Senator Is not against
the President, but the renegades smile
incredulously. These people also
smiled when Quay denied the dB
tardjy Bardsley barges last fall, and
refused to accept the verdicts of vin
dication awarded by two juries. Con
viction must be born in their brains
(?) It cannot be Inoculated.
General Harrison has made an ad
mirable President. Ills administra
tion is above reproach. Although he
may not have satisfied all in his party.
It is certain that he shares the good
will of all.
It Is inconsistent for the ''indepen
dent" crowd to say they are against
Quay because he is against Harrison,
for that crowd 1b constituted of men
who have failed to get that which
they expected to receive through Har
rison's election. Hence they them
selves have the grievances against
Harrison, if any exist.
If Quay never has stronger oppo
nents that those who constitute the
Mapes, Emery & Co. combine his po
litical life will last for years to come.
The people soon 'tire of the subter
fuges these resort to for personal gain.
'Tia a pity we haven'i got more Quays
and less "kickers."
