In the roof of the Arnold ore mine at
Ferona, this county, gave way In the
morning while the full force ot men
were at work.
The following men were killed out
riant: Conrad Dewey, single man; Wm,
Nolan, aged 45, married, and father of a
large ramuy; itenry ratnow, agea u,
married.
The following were severely wounded:
Patrick Dowd, who subsequently died of
his injuries, leaving a wife nnd family;
Thomas Russell, who was badly cut on
the head, Alexander Dupleas, Antolne
Lamarke.

A Bent Chicago Aristocrat.
Chicago, Feb. 18. Mrs. John A. Davis,
of this city, as the only surviving daugh
ter of Lady Eleanor Stnnbowe, succeeds
to the title of Lady Thrush Stanhowe
and to Cavan House and the Clantalleu
estate. Mrs. Davis is a niece ot the late
Lord. John RtiBsell, of England. Her
husband, John A. Davis, is a contestant
for the .estate of his brother, tho'late A.
J. Davis, who died in Butte, Mont., leav
ing property valued nt several millions ol
dollars.

Zincing Accident.
St. Louis, .Feb. 18. Jockey Murkett,
while riding Morristown .on a practice
gallop at the ruce traok here, .collided
with another horse, Murkett And Morris
town being thrown heavily to the ground.
Murkett was seriously injured anil Mor
ristown had one of his legs broken and
had to be shot.
Will be Sentenced Saturday.
AsntwY Park, N. J., Feb. 18. Counsel
for Louis Aubertin, nlias Louis Harriott,
convicted murderer of Mrs. Charles
Leonard, of the A'tlnntlc Highlands, has
prepared papers on the motion for a now
trial. Hnrriott will be sentenced Satur
day. He is kept closely guarded night
and day.

Providence, R.I., Fob. 18. In response
to the appeal ot the Russian Famine Re
lief Committee, Governor Ladd has
issued a proclamation recommending
prompt action by the people of the State
iu forwarding their contributions for the
starving Russians.

committee of the National Grange ot the
Patrons of Husbandry will be hoard to
morrow by the House Committee on
