nandez, from Drava, Cape Vordo Island,
for Boston, put in to the lireakwator for
provisions nnd repairs yestorday. She
encountered a severe gale on October 2,
which blew with groat foroo for 13 days
from southeast to northeast, blowing
away sails, tearing away sheathing from
the stern, stern-boat, anchor ami sixty
fathoms of hawser. Tho cabin and fore
castle wero tilled with wat-ir, tho ballast
shifted and considerable of tho vessel's
material was washed off dock.

quest in tho murder ot Johu Whalon,
strong evidence wni adduced tending
strongly to show that Coy, the man un
der arrest, was the murderer. Coy still
osserts his Innocence- nnd says it Is of no
avail for him to say anything. If ho
tolls who killed Whalon tho man will
kill him. It not he will hang and ho
says ho may as well dlo one way as an
other. This statoraent of Coy Is signifi
cant as showing his knowledgo of the
murder.

who recently had n talk with Mr. Blaine
at Augusta, Mo., quotes that gentleman
saying tho Maine delegation would
not present the name of Mr. Illalne as a
candidate bofoK the Hopubllcan Na
tional Convention, Mr. Blalno having ex
pressed n desire that the Maine delega
tion should not mako him a candidate.
