It seems that this man quit .work on

Jamaica, but there in no evidence as yet
known connecting him with the crime.
No light wns Bheu on tho gruesome
murdor to-day and the solution of tho
mystery grows moro improbable ns the
days go on. After their unsuccessful
labors of yesterday Coroner Homeyoraud
his assistants rested.
District Attorney John Fleming, of
Queens Couuty, drove over from Jamaica
In tho morning and had a long confer
ouco with tho coroner. It vt-ns admitted
by these gentlemen that a great mistake
hud been made in allowing Charles
Weber to escape. Tho district attorney
was inclined to the belief that Wober
was not meroly a crank, as tho detectives
paint him, but a man who knows consid
erably more nbout tho mysterious mur
der thnu ho was ready to admit. Mr.
Fleming said that the Now York polioe
had Bent out a gcnoral nlarm for Wober,
and that he had no doubt but that this
valuable witnosa would bo recovorod.
Ho gavo ordors for tho remains and tho
clothing to bo photographed, and then
drovo back to Jamaica.
