Canned Salmon Sickens Three
Children of Town.
The family of Thomas S. Roberts, of
Bast Coal stroot, rocoivod a pretty bad
Ecaro yesterday afternoon. Canned salmon
was placed on tho dinner tablo and all
partook of it quito heartily. Tho three
youngest children, Maggie, aged 11 years,
Eddie, aged 8, and badie agea 4, were
particularly fond of it. Towards ovoning
the tbroo wore suddenly taken very ill.
Br. Stoin was summoned and, after mak
ing inquiries, pronounced tho sickness lead
poisoning, caused by tho coating of tho tin
can mixing with tho salmon, Tho doctor
workod for two hours and a half. Sadie,
tho youngost child was so ill thatitwas
feared she would die. But all woro ulti
mately relievod of the poisonous substance
in timo to shut off fatal results.' A Her
ald reporter called at the houso this morn
ing and found tho children going about,
apparontly enjoying their good hoalth.
Tho adult members of the family did not
suffor any ill effects.
