Gold and Silver Development.
The Black Lick Gold and Silver Min-
ing Company, whose development lies
in District No. 11, of this sounty, near
the Allegany county line, and who
were chartered for the purpose of de-
veloping a gold and silver deposit sup-
posed to exist near Merrill, this county,
a couple of years ago, will begin opera-
tions for a complete development as
soon as a complete outfit of machinery
can be installed at the mines. The
stockholders are M. P. Gannon, J. C.
Renninger, Judge Elias Merrill and
two sons, I. H. Kooken and several
other business men of Piedmont and
Westernport. These gentlemen, though
prevented from developing at an
earlier date, owing to want of more
funds, have now decided to make a
complete investigation, and all of them
have faith in the future of the enter-
