its mate also.
UD, Leydig, a former well-known
Salisbury merchant, but now a mer-
chant of Glencoe, Pa., was a Salisbury
visitor on Tuesday. While he was here
we were much pained to learn that he
has practically lost the sight of one
aye.
Bert Barber. of Elton, Wis., says: “I
have only taken four doses of your

Barber refers to DeWitt’s Kidney and

We notice in the Leader, a paper
published at Carleton, Neb., that our
friend Frank P. Beachy, of that place,
recently lost a 470-acre wheat crop at
Wray, Colorada, owing to a severe hail
storm. We are sorry to learn of Frank’s
bad luck.
The wife of the late Rev. C. U. Heil-
man, and her son George, arrived here
last week for a visit with their many
Salisbury friends. The Heilman family
resided here for a number of years,
hence need no introduction to the older
citizens of our town.

them. Foley's Kidney Remedy makes
the kidneys healthy. They will strain

Mr. and Mrs. Simon O’Donnell, of

We forgot to mention the fact that
Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Hoover were
here recently for a visit at Mr. Hoover's
old home, where his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ananias Hoover, reside. Matthew
at present resides at Center Bridge,
Pa., which is in the Eastern part of the
state.
Hundreds of people who suffer from

Delay in commencing treatment for
a slight irregularity that could have
been cured quickly by Foley’s Kidney
Remedy may result in a serious kidney
disease. Foley's Kidney Remedy
builds up the worn-out tissues, and
strengthens these organs. Commence
taking it to-day. Elk Lick Pharmacy,
.E. H. Miller, proprietor. 8-1
Several days ago the young son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Lichliter fell of of a
porch and broke one of his arms. The
lad is a plucky little fellow, however,
and doesn’t seem to mind his misfor-
tune very much. He is now going
about with his arm in a sling, but
seems to be as happy as anybody else.
Dr. T. F. Livengood, of Elizabeth, N.
J., arrived here last week. He has
since been enjoying rest and recrea-
tion among his numerous friends in
Salisbury and Meyersdale. The genial
doctor is much pleased with the im-
provements made in Salisbury in the
past few years, and he pronounces our
trolley line the greatest of them all,
which it is.
There is one preparation known to-
day that will promptly help the siom
ach. This is Kodol. Kodol digesis all
classes of food, and it does it thorough-
ly, so that the use of Kodol for a time
will without doubt kelp anyone who
has stomach disorders or stomach
trouble. Take Kodol today and con-
tinue it for the short time that is neces-
sary to give you complete relief. Kodol
is sold by E. H. Miller. 8-1
Business is evidently booming at
Murphy Brothers’ restaurant, for last
week more help arrived. Inthe family
of Frank, the senior member of the
firm, a little dish-washer was added to
the force, while James, the other part-
ner, reports a bouncing boy, who will
likely be an efficient clerk or book-
keeper in the establishment in dhe
course of time.
Piles are easily and quickly checked
with Dr. Shoop’s Magic Ointment. To
prove it I will mail a small trial box as
a convincing test. Simply address Dr.
Shoop, Racine, Wis. 1 surely would
not send it free unless I was certain
that Dr. Shoop’s Magic Ointment would
stand the test. Remember it is made
expressly and alone for swollen, pain-
ful, bleedirg or itching piles, either ex-
ternal or internal. Large jar 50c. Sold
by all dealers. 8-
Clarence Sperry and George Snyder,
of Welmerding, Pa., Ellet Smith, of
Pittsburg, Pa., and S. P. Schell, of Con-
nellsville, Pa., all took advantage of the
Cumberland excursion, last Sunday,
getting off the train at Meyersdale,
where they took the P. & M. trolley
line for Salisbury and enjoyed a visit
among their friends here. They re-
turned home in the evening.

Pain will depart in exactly 20 minutes
if one of Dr. Shoop’s Pink Pain Tablets
is taken. Pain anywhere. Remem-
ber, Pain always means congestion,
blood pressure—nothing else. Head-
ache is blood pressure; toothache is
blood pressure on the sensitive nerve.
Dr. Shoop’s Headache Tablets—also
called Pink Pain Tablets—quickly and
safely coax this blood pressure away
from pain centers. Painful periods
with women get instant relief. 20 Tab-
lets 25¢. Sold by all dealers. 8-1
J. F. Klare has sold his well-known
hotel, in Meyersdale, to Vincent A.
Hartle, a single man of that town, who
will be assisted in the management of
the house by his parents, brothers and
sisters. Mr. Klare conducted a first
class hotel, and it is hoped that his suc-
cessor will keep the house up to its
former high standard. Hotel Klare
was formerly known as the Jones
House, and also as Hotel Reed.
The Borough council of Boswell has
placed a contract for the erection of a
municipal building that will cost about
$3,000. Salisbury, a larger and much
richer town, is now erecting a munici-
pal building that is to cost $2,075, and a
few of our citizens are kicking like
steers about it. The kickers are doing
much harping on increased taxes, but
most of that class do. not pay enough
taxes to pay for an ordinary drunk.
Heat prostrates the nerves. In the
summer one needs a tonic to off-set the
customary hot weather Nerve and
Strength depression. You will feel
better within 48 hours after beginning
to take such a remedy as Dr. Shoop’s
Restorative. Its prompt action in re-
storing weakened nerves is surprising.
Of course, you won't get entirely strong
in a few days, but each day you can
actually feel the improvement. That
tired, lifeless, spiritless, feeling will
quickly depart when using the Restor-
ative. Dr. Shoop’s Restorative will
sharpen a failing appetite; it aids di-
geston ; it will strengthen the weaken-
Kidneys and Heart by simply rebuild-
ing the worn-out nerves that these or-
gans depend upon. Test it a few days
and be convinced. Sold by all dealers.

Elias Hershberger, who has been
making his home near Accident, Md.,
was in town several days ago. We are
sorry to announce that his health has
gotten to be quite bad, but we trust he
will again fully recuperate. For many
years Mr. Hershberger was one of the
leading farmers of Elk Lick township,
but he retired from farming some years
ago. However, he has again returned
to his native heath to make it his place
of abode.
The postal authorities at Washing-
ton recognizing the liability of post-
masters to make mistakes in getting
letters in the wrong boxes, have fixed
a penalty of $200 on persons taking
mail out of the office other than their
own, and not returning it at once.
This law also includes newspapers.
The excuses that it is the postmaster’s
fault “cuts no ice.” If you have been
getting other people's mail, you had
better take warning, or you may get
yourself in trouble.
This is what Hon. Jake Moore, State
Warden of Georgia, says of Kodol for
Dyspepsia: “E. C. DeWitt & Co,
Chicago, Ill.—Dear Sirs—I have suf-
fered more than twenty years from in-
digestion. About eighteen months ago
I had grown so much worse that 1
could not digest a crust of corn bread,
and could not retain anything on my
stomach. I lost 25 Ibs.; in fact I made
up my mind that I could not live but a
short time, when a friend of mine rec-
ommended Kodol. I consented to try
it to please him and was better in one
day. I now weigh more than I ever
did in my life, and am in better health
than for many years. Kodol did it. I
keep a bottle constantly, and write this
hoping that bumanity may be benefit-
ed. Yours very truly, Jake C. Moore,
Atlanta, Aug. 10,1804.” Sold by E. H.
Miller. 8-1
Attention, Soldiers!
The Veterans’ Association of Somer-
set County will hold its Annual Re-
union at Berlin, Pa., Tuesday, August
11th, during Old-Home Week. All
veterans of the civil and other wars
from this county and adjoining coun-
ties are cordially invited, to the end
that this reunion may result in another
grand ralley of the “Boys in Blue.”
Tet us be there in conveyances, if pos-
sible, ready to move in procession at
10 o'clock sharp, and when the firing
squad opens up the battle (with blank
cartridges) let them keep their guns
well elevated. A lunch basket will be
a good thing to take with you, not-
withstanding the fact that the good
people of the good Old-Home Week
town of Berlin never do things by
halves, and there will be abgndance
for everybody, but the crowd may be
so great that a veteran might be
jostled off his feet in his efforts to
reach a hotel table, lunch counter, or
eating stand.
Do as you please, but don’t forget the
day, Tuesday, August 11th, and be sure
to get there.
