Simple Home-Made Treatment Said To Overcome Rheumatism, When an eminent authority an- nounced in the Scranton (Pa.) Times that he had found a new way to treat that dread American disease, Rheumna- tism, with just common, every-day drugs found in any drug store, the physicians were slow indeed to attach much importance to his claims. This was only a few months ago. Today nearly every newspaper in the country, even the metropolitan dailies, is an- nouncing it and the splendid results achieved. It is so simple that any one can prepare it at home at small cost. It is made up as follows: Get from any good prescription pharmacy, Fluid Extract Dandelion, one-half ounce; Compound Kargon, one ounce; Com- pound Syrup Sarsaparilla, three ounces. Mix by shaking in a bottle and take in teaspoonful doses after each meal and at bedtime. These are all simple in- gredients, making an absolutely harm- less home remedy at little cost Rheumatism, as every one knows, is a sympton of deranged kidneys. It is a condition produced by the failure of the kidneys to properly filter or strain from the blood the uric acid and other matter which, if not eradicated, either in the urine or through the skin pores, remains in the blood. decomposes and forms about the joints and muscles, causing the untold suffering and de- formity of rheumatism. This prescription is said to be a splendid healing, cleansing and invig- orating tonic to the kidneys, and gives almost immediate relief in all forms of bladder and urinary troubles and back- ache. He also warns people in a lead- ing New York paper against the dis- criminate use of many patent medi- cines. A RELTABLE REMEDY FOR CROUP. With the dry, cold weather of the early winter months, parents of croupy children should be on the alert for ominous symptoms. There is no cause for anxiety, however, when Chamber- lain’s Cough Remedy is kept in the home. If this medicine is given as soon as the child becomes hoarse or even after the croupy cough has ap- peared, thelattack may be warded off. Mrs. S. Rosinthal, of Turner, Michigan, says: “We thave used Chamberlain’s Cough medicine for ourselves and children for several years and like it very much. I think it is the only remedy for croup and can highly rec- ommend it.” For sale at Miller’s Drug Store. 12-1 LONG DELAYED LETTER. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob ‘Diehl Apprised of Fortune Awaiting Them in Germany. The following news item, which re- cently appeared in the Pittsburg Ga- zette Times, will interest many of Tug Star’s readers, owing to the fact that the Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Diehl mention- ed therein resided in West Salisbury a few years ago, where they still have many friends: “Mailed on December 2, 1892, from Harswile, Germany, a letter yesterday arrived at the Greenock postoffice for Jacob - Diehl. Fourteen’ years, 10 months and 25 days were taken up in the transmission of the communica- tion which related to the distribution of the $5,000 estate of Mrs. Diehl’s fa- ther. and the delay caused Mrs. Diehl to receive a smaller portion of the es- tate. “The letter addressed to Em- blem, which is across the Youghiogheny river from Greenock, the latter town being six miles from McKeesport. Formerly Emblem had a postoffice, but years ago it was transferred to Green- ock. 3 “Diebl lived within a stone’s throw of the postoffice, and visited it daily. Yesterday the building was torn down and the letter found. The writing could be easily read, although the paper was yellow with age.” THE NEW PURE GOOD AND DRUG LAW. Last week the Berlin club did the Salisbury champions out of three straight games, and Tuesday evening the champions defeated the Meyersdale club two games out of three on the Salisbury alleys. Meyersdale won the last “heat” by the narrow margin of one pin. Our boys still have a chance to win the second championship contest. A SIGNIFICANT PRAYER. “May the Lord help you make Buck- len’s Arnica Salve known to all,” writes J. G. Jenkins, of Chapel Hill, N. C. It quickly took the pain out-of a felon for me and cured it in a wonder- fully short time.” Best on earth for sores, burns and wounds. 25c. at E. H. Miller's drug store. 12-1 The Foolishness of Locking Up Money. That a very great many persons are drawing their money from the banks and locking it up safety deposit vaults or carrying it home and hiding it in various places, is a fact that every bank and trust company has noted. Those who do this foolish thing have an idea that they are protecting them- selves. They are. not. They ‘are simply aiming a blow at the prosperity of the country, which is also their own prosperity. And what are they doing it for? any one of them tell? Are they afraid that the railroads are going to be fined so heavily that divi- dends will be interfered with or pass- ed entirely? Do they believe, because some financial sharks have been rob- bing street car lines, that the whole country is under tribute to financial conspirators? Do they fear that be- cause some speculators got hold of a bank or two, rottenness pervades the entire banking system, and that fail- ures throughout the land may be look- ed for? ? Of course, this is all very absurd, but the fool will run from another fool’s joking ery of fire in a theatre just as fast as he will from the real thing. Frighten him a little, even if there is no cause for alarm; and away he goes. Now, theré is no trouble with the banks. There is no trouble with busi- ness—except the lack of money. That is all. And for that lack of money the fool- ish man who locks his money up and prevents it from circulating is at fault. The hoarder congratulates himself upon his astuteness. He never stops to think that he and those who think with him are inviting disaster upon their own heads. Great enterprises cannot be carried on without capital. Busi- ness cannot be brisk if money cannot be had. Mills and factories must dis- charge their men unless they can pro- cure money or credit. With mills clos- ing and throwing employes out of work, with decreased business, neces- sitating the discharge of clerks from the stores, what would become of the man who refuses to permit his money to remain in the banks? He would be discharged with the rest, and—he would be responsible for the shut- down. We have not reached the point of closing mills as yet, except in a very limited degree. We shall not reach it at all if this absurd and childish move- ment to withdraw deposits is stopped. All that is needed is that confidence which will bring the money into the banks and allow business to get back into its usual channels. in Can a, APPENDICITIS { Is due in a large measure to abuse of the bowels, by employing drastic pur- gatives. However, cars will depart from Salisbury and Meyersdale as follows, until further notice is given: Car leaves Salisbury at 5:30 a. m., 8:00 a. m., 10:00 a. m., 1:30 p, m., 3:30 p. m., 7:00 p. m. and 9:00 p. m. ‘Car leaves Meyersdale at 6:30 a. m., 9:00 a. m, 12:00 m., 2:30 p. m., 5:15 p. m., 8:00 p. m. and 10:00 p. m. : This schedule will likely remain in force until the .trolley company gets the contract for carrying the mails be- tween here and Meyersdale, when it will be changed to suit the mail service, which will likely be soon. President J. L. Barchus and General Manager H. H. Maust went to Phila- delphia, Monday, to hurry the ship- ment of an‘ additional car, which is badly needed to accommodate the rapidly increasing traffic." iE A GOOD LINIMENT. When you need a good reliable lini- ment try Chamberlain’s Pain Balm. It has no superior for sprains and swel- lings. A piece of flannel slightly dampened with Pain Balm is superior to a plaster for lame back or pains in the side or chest. It also relieves rheumatic pains and makes slegpg~and rest possible.
