WORST FORMS. Tells How To Prepare a Simple Mix- ture To Overcome Dread Dis ase. To relieve the worst forms of Rheu- matism, take a teaspoonful of the fol- lowing mixture after each meal and at bedtime: Fluid Extract Dandelion, one-half ounce ; Compound Kargon, one ounce; Compound Syrup Sarsaparilla, three ounces. These harmless ingredients can be obtained from our home druggists, and are easily mixed by shaking them well in a bottle. Relief is generally felt from the first few doses. This3?prescription,§ states a well- known authority in a Cleveland morn- ing paper, forces the clogged-up, in- active kidneys to filter and strain from the blood the poisonous waste matter and uric acid} which causes Rheuma- tism. As Rheumatism is not only the most painful and torturous disease, but dan- gerous to life, this simple recipe will no doubt be greatly valued by many sufferers here at home, who should at once prepare the mixture to get this relief. It is said that a person who would take this prescription regularly, a dose or two daily, or even a few times a week, would never have serious Kid- ney or Urinary disorders or Rheuma- tism. Cut this out and preserve it. Good Rheumatism prescriptions which real- ly relieve are scarce, indeed, and when you need it, you want it badly. Our druggists here say they will either sup- ply these ingredients or make the mix- ture ready to take, if any of our readers so prefer. DANCING PROVES FATAL. Many men and women catch colds at dances which terminate in pneumonia and consumption. After exposure, if Foley’s Honey and Tar is taken it will break up a cold and no serious results need be feared. Refuse any but the genuine in a yellow package. Sold by All Druggists. 12-1 CANDIDATE FOR ASSEMBLY. Editor of Star will Seek Nomina- tion for the Legislature at the Next County Primary. I hereby give notice that I have de- cided to enter the race for legislative honors at the next county primary, as a Republican candidate. My platform will be announced later, and when the announcement is made, it will leave no doubt as to where I stand on the vital questions that the people will demand the next Legisla- 1 ture to deal with. I will not be a dodger of the ques- tions at issue, but some time between this date and the day of the primary, I will “talk right out in meeting” and let the people know just where I stand and what they may reasonably expect of me if I should be nominated and elected. In the meantime, keep your eye on THE STAR, and anything honorable you may be able to do to aid me in my candidacy, will be duly appreciated. It is a long time since this loca)ity has had a candidate for legislative or county office, and it’s our turn now. P. L. LivexGoobp. Mn PNEUMONIA FOLLOWS A COLD but never follows the use of Foley's Honey and Tar. It stops the cough, heals and strengthens the lungs and prevents pneumonia. 12-1 A EE TROLLEY EXTENSION. When Tue Star suggested, a couple of weeks ago, that the P. & M. trolley line should be extended to Oakland, we struck a very popular chord, and the idea is being very favorably com- mented on by many people of practical business ideas. Far-seeing men in Grantsville, Salisbury and Meyersdale have complimented THE STAR on its exccllent suggestion, and all are en- thusiastically in favor of the Oakland extension, declaring that it would without doubt be a far better paying proposition than an extension to Frost- burg. “Squire” Daniel Dorsey, of Grants. ville, was in Salisbury, several days ago, and he said while here that the people of Garrett county, Md. stand ready to encourage the Oakland ex- tension in every possible way. At the semi-annual meeting of the Somereet County Conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, which was held at Pine Hill, Nov. 12th-14th, the following resolution was unani- mously adopted: “It is with grateful hearts that we note the continued progress through- out the land, in the war against the Liquor traffic. “Resolved, therefore, that as a con- ference, we pledge our continued sup- port to this great movement, and that we urge our people to give their hearty endorsement to every movement which has for its aim the overthrow of this gigantic traffic in human souls; and that we will support only those candi- dates for public office who favor local option.” The following subjects were present- ed and discussed : “Personal value of regular church attendance.” “The tomorrow church in America.” New obedience,” Article VI, Augs- burg Confession. “Good works,” Article XX, Augsburg Confession. “The importance of denominational literature.” “The grace of giving.” “Sanctification.” “The evils which threaten our Amer- ican institutions.” “Our missionary responsibility.” The following named officers were elected: President, Rev. W. H. B. Girne , Garrett, Pa.; Secretary, Rov. .M. Daubenspeck, Shanksville, Pa. BER Rev. 8. A. Zimbeck, Tavis of the Lutheran ville, Pa. Th= next convention will be held in Hooversville, May, 1908. Miller’s drug store. 12-1 IT’S UP TO WEST SALISBURY. If the people of West Salisbury want the trolley extended to the bridge at the foot of Ord street, they should make application to become a portion of Salisbury borough, which would be more to their advantage than it would be to those already in the borough, but yet an advantage to all concerned. Our people want to see the trolley extended to West Salisbury, but they want the people of our western sub- urb to meet them half way in the mat- ter of public improvements. To consolidate the two towns in one corporation is the proper idea. This would give us a greater Salisbury, and add prestige and importance to the en- tire community in many ways. Fur- thermore, it would mean a good pave- ment to West Salisbury, as well as an extension of the car line to the foot of Ord street, improved mail service, ¢te- In unity there is strength, and a consolidation of the two towns would mean more benefit to West Salisbury than does the croaking over there about having to wade mud in order. to get up town, while seeming perfectly contented to wade mud on their own side of the river. We would like to see the people of West Salisbury have street cars to ride on and good pavements to walk on just as soon as they enter the present limits of Salisbury borough. But we who have occasiofi to go to Wést Salis- bury, once in a while, would also like to see pavements to walk on after reaching the West shore of the raging Casselman. Come on, gentlemen of the West side, let’s get together. But don’t forget that it’s up to West Salis- bury to meet us half way in the mat- ter of public improvements for the general good, HE FOUGHT AT GETTYSBURG. David Parker, of Fayette, N.
