Last week was a good week to sow oats, and nearly all the farmers were sowing. Cherry blossoms are now coming out, Wheat and grass looks nice. Mountain fires were raging on Sunday and burned some of Bender's fence. Some raseal went 10 work, Sunday night, and started fire along 8. D. Yoder's place, about one rod from the fence, with the intention, we think of burning the fence. But the fire was discovered be- fore any damage was done. J. 8B. Miller sold a 8-year-old colt for $90, U. D. Yoder a 77-year-old mare for $120 and D. J. Swartzentruber a 8-year- old mare for $100. The veterinary surgeon, R. M. Beachy, had a call, last Sunday, to see some sick horses on the other side of Rockwood. L. J. Swartzentruber some time ago bought an Excelsior incubator, which they say works nicely. He also bought a buggy from Eli 8, Beachy and went to Mechanicsburg, last Sunday, to try it, The girls down that way can doubtless tell whether it is a good buggy or not. D. 8. There was a grand ball held in ‘Possum Hollow” a few nights ago. This place was well represented: about a half-dozen boys from here attended and all report a good time. . Our genial merchant, Mr. H. This is quite a lively litile town, as von can judge by the following: Jacob Ken- nell has a general merchandise store here and is also engaged in the paper wood business. He also has a grist mill that is doing a fine business. Jessse Martz algo has a grist mill as well as a sawmill. Russell Martz, who has heen suffering with la grippe. got a back set.
