COUNTERFEIT ICRS ARRESTED.

Friday afternoon four counterfeiters
from Somerset county, in charge
of Deputy Marshal Garber and Officer
Mcßweenv, of Pittsburg, arrived in this
city and were lodged in the Johnstown
lock up, where they were held, await
ing orders from headquarters. The work
of these men has been puzzling the
authorities for some time. Marshal
O'Hara, of the Western District of Pcnn
sylvania, was instrumental in brineing
the men to arrest. The four men arrested
were taken into custody near Stoystown.
Their names are Edward Bisbing, Jere
miah Wilt. John Seipc and John Henry
Bisbing.
Edw.rd Bisbing is a stone-mason and
has a wile and family. Jeremiah Wilt is
a coal-miner, and is said to bo Bishinir's
father-in-law. John Seipe is a carpenter,
lie is also married. John Henry Bisbing
is a young man and single.
In possession of the men were found a
Set of moulds and a bogus half-dollar. It
is expected that more arrests will follow
The men were taken to Pittsburgh last
night on Fast Line.
The hearing of James Wilt, the young
man from Stoyestown, charged with mak
ingand passing counterfeit money, was
held before Commissioner McCandless, ol
the United States District Court, Pitts
burgh Monday morning.
The Commissioner sat in the office of
the District Attorney. Mrs. Mary
Stanger, who now keeps a boarding house
on Neville street, Pittsburgh, was the first
witness examined. She said that in 1888
she kept a boarding house in McKeesport.
In December of that year Wilt boarded
With her. He made three silver dollars,
gave one to the children, one to some
other person and kept one himself. She
did not see him make it, but the children
did. He said he could make lots of them.
Afterwards he began to make nickels
and dimes in the kitchen. In so doing
he spoiled the table. She then told him
he would have to stop all such practices,
and made him leave.
James Sipe, who is also under arrest
on the same charge, testified that be
lived at Stoyestown. A year ago young
Wilt came home from McKeesport ar I
came to the.coal bank wlieie he worked
to see him. He gave the witness three
counterfeit dollars and told him he could
make lots more. Said he had dies and
was ready for business.
Wilt next testified in his own behalf.
He acknowledged that he had made this
counterfeit money but said he did it for
fun. A man named Frank Ober taught
him and his father how to make this
counterfeit money. They made the
money in a shanty near the coal bank.
They had plaster of Paris molds.
Mr. Hugh Miller, another boarder in
the house at the same time, was the
next witness. He testified that he saw a
number of counterfeit nickels in Will's
room. Wilt told him that he had made
them. Witness burned them and gave
Wilt good advice, telling him that he had
better stop this sort of business altogether.
After hearing the testimony Commis
sioner McCandless held Wilt in $1,501!
bail. The boy said he would commui i
cate with some friends in McKcespr r
and thought they would help him. Mr.
Candless said if they did not he wouldn't
have long to stay in jail, as the court met
next week.
THE ODD FELLOWS CELEBRATE.
A Joyous Occasion oil Saturday livening,
tile Seventy-first Anniversary of the Insti
tution of That Order in the United States.
The different lodges of Odd Fellows, of
this city, celebrated on Saturday evening
in Alma Hall, the seventy-first anniver
sary of the introduction of that order
into the United States.
A very large representation of the
brothers from tlie several lodges, together
with their wives and children, were pres
ent. A number of visitors and friends
were also in attendance.
Addresses were made by P. G. John I'.
Linton, P. G. W. T. Coliver, P. G. A. W.
Conner, and Rev. I. Morgan Thomas, of
Ohio,setting forth the progress made by the
Order and the rapid increase in memhi r
ship, and in view of the past successes
predicting a brilliant future for the Order.
The Cambrian Choir, under the leader
ship of Prof. T. E. Morgan, rendered sev
eral fine selections of music in their usual
good style.
Refreshments of all kinds were served
by the committee; and it is needless to
say that all present had an enjoyable time
during the whole of the evening.

On Saturday, Air. F. A. Cress well, the
Surveyor, finished rucning the bounda
ries of the proposed new borough of Mor
rellville. The limits now include about
350 acres, instead of 500, as at first pro
posed. The matter will likely be in
proper shape to present to the Court for
approval in June. The people of the vi
cinity, it is said, were very hard to please
in the matter of where the lines should he
run, some wanting the limits one place
and others desiring a different location, j
