FRANK BENKORD lias opened the Hulbcrt House dining-rooms in Parke's Opera House 011 Main street. STRAYKK, the contractor and builder, has opened an office on Centre street where he will be pleased to see all who desire to havee buildings erected. W. A. RAMP & HORAN, the newsdealers, have a full line of wall paper, window shades, etc., aud the Eastern and Pittsburgh daily papers. On July 15th they will occupy Eldridgc A Young's old stand. Hereafter all trains—pas senger and freight—will laud there. MH. THOMAS F. BRADY, oldest son of the late John Brady, Esq., went to Pittsburgh Wednesday evening, and will return on to-day's afternoon train with the remains of his mother. The body will be taken off at Morrellville and buried in the ceme tery there. >IR. J. F. KBI-LY, of T. D. Casey & Co., wholesale liquor merchants of Pitts burgh, is in the city. This house has a reputation of seiling the best liquors in the market, and Mr. Kelly is a courteous gentleman with whom it is a pleasure to do business MR. JAMKS MCKNIUHT, the contructor who has had charge of cleaning up and removing the wreckage in the district in eluding Franklin and Washington streets,- is an energetic and pleasant business man. He has our acknowledgements for his courtesy. AN Italian was brought to town from Mineral Point yesterday and taken to the hospital. He was an employe of Brown & Emery, and in some manner was shot during the day. The ball entered near the breast, and was found by Dr. Low man near the surface in the back and re moved. MESSRS. GEO. B. STRAYKR and John E. Strayer are engaged in the real estate business at room No. 7, Alma Hall. They are citizens of this city and are well ac quainted with our people, and are well informed on the situation. Any business entrusted to them will be promptly at tended to. This establishment although flooded out on Main street lias already had erected on the corner of Franklin and Locust streets a large temporary building where a large aud varied stock of goods will be found. Give them a call. AMONG other business men who have sufficient snap and get-up to meet and successfully surmount formidable ob stacles is the carpet man, James Ash bridge. He lias erected a commodious building nearly opposite the DEMOCRAT office, on the site of his old stand, where he will soon open a new stock of goods. JUDGE JOHNSON has given notice that he will allow the saloons to open their doors on Monday, July Bth. Since the order clos ing the saloons was made, it has been pretty generally observed. In Cambria borough, some of the saloons had the notice posted on the door, and they were kept tightly closed, while some others had their doors wide open. The Pennsylvania'* Greet Lois. In addition to the great damage done to property in Johnstown and adjoining bor oughs the loss sustained by the Penn sylvania Railroad was the severest blow they had ever yet sustained. Five thou sand workmen have been employed day and night to repair the trucks and put the road-bed in condition again. The loss of rolling stock, including thirty engines and hundreds of freight cars was also very great. Fourth ut July. What asorrowful anniversary of Ameri can Independence did we have. A few Hags floating front some dilapidated buildings, and an occasional lire-cracker exploded by some lonely little boy, the remnant of the hundreds of boys aud girls that once thronged our streets, were the only things to remind us that the Glorious Fourth was here.
