Harry Swarner spent Saturday
He was carrying a cross-cut saw when :
he slipped and fell the saw severing
an artery in the right arm.
Paul Baker, the 5-year-old son of |
Hiram Baker, the well-known black-
smith and wagon repair man of Ba-
kersville, died early Saturday morn-
ing of Injuries sustained when a heav-
y log sled fell on him crushing him
while he was in his father’s shop. The
little fellow lived nine hours after the
accident.
About 600 men employed at” the
Knickerbogker mines at Hooversville,
have been informed of an increase in
wages dating from Feb. 16. The ad-
vance will be the same as in other
parts of the county. The Knicker-
bocker. mines are the Knickerbocker |-
Smokeless Coal Company, the Somer-
set Smokeless Company, and thé Wil-
bur Coal Company, employing a total
of 600 men. The announcement of the
advance was made by Telford Lewis,
of Johnstown, superintendent of the
operations.
