At a receni meetihg of town coun-
cil of Salisbury, James Harding and
Joseph Hoover, two prominent citi-
zens, were appointed members of the
Board of Heclth. There being no phy-
sician on the Board, it consists of
only four members. The other two
members of the Board are Frank Pe-
try and John L. Barchus.
Last Thursday, Mrs. Henry Mec
Kenzie, Miss Carrie Meese, Robert
and Mary Teney and Lorne Dean
were dinner guests at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hoffman of E!k
Lick township.
Mrs. Jere Miller is suffering with
a very sore hand which she injured
by running a rusty nail into that
member.
Mrs. B. F. Krausse and two chil-
dren, Bernard and Margaret. were
guests of the former’s sister, at Pin-
to, Md., the fore part of last week.
Mrs. C. R. Haselbarth who had
been ill for several weeks, is in a
very weak condition and is not im-
proving much if at all.
There are quite a number of cases
of chicken-pox in town and since very
few of the first cases were reported
to the health officer it is likely that
the disease has been spread all over
this place.
Misses Edith and Katherine Reib-
er have been ill for the past week
with a bad siege of grip and pneumo-
nia threatened for awhile, but both
are reported out of danger.
The condition of Miss Odella. Con-
nor, who has been quite ill for sever-
al weeks, is improving and the pa-
tient is considered out of danger.
Lee Meyers, fireman on the Jen-
nings railroad, while helping to make
up the train near Grantsville on
Tuesday night of last week had the
misfortune to fall on a rock and sus-
tained a fractured hip and one arm.
He was speedily taken to a hospital
in Cumberland.
Mr. and Mrs, Earl Musser of Hutch
ison, Kansas, spent several days of
the past week as gue st of B. A. Liv-
engood at the Valley House.
_ Misses Helen and Ruth Shaw left
for their schools last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Menhorn and
children spent several days of last
week in the “Cove” visiting relatives.
Misses Mary Black and Helen Col-
ling of Meyersdale, spent Wednesday
in town the guests of Miss Florence
Maust. 3
* Mrs. D. J. Meyers of Meyersdale
spent Tuesday of last week at the |ing his hip and sustaining other in-
‘home of Mrs. H. H. Maust.
The property of Mrs. Anale Brown
deceased, was sold at public sale last
Saturday by Joseph Durst, the exec
utor, and was purchased by William
Wagner of Elk Lick township. There
seems to be a dispute ameng the
heirs and the executor as to who has
the power to seil the property and
the matter will likely be threshed
out in court before a good title will
be given for it.
The people of Salisbury and vicini-
ty will be privileged to hear one of
ca’s greatest lecturer's Tues-
day evening, Jan. 18th. Some splen-
did men have appeared in the town’s
Lecture Course during the years it
nas been favored with a course, but
a more scholarly and more ententain-
ing speaker than Mr. Beauchamp has
never been on the platform. He
leaves his audience with light hearts
and aching sides. He is sure to please
