At half past eight o'click, Thursday
evening, the jury in the Voder robbery
case came into Court.
' '(.eiitlenien of the jury, have you
agreed npon a verdict?" was asked by;
Clerk Horner.
In response to the quest ion the fore
man handed the verdict to the Clerk,
who handed it to the Court. Judge Eaer
read it and passed it back to the Clerk,
wiio said :
"Gentlemen of the jury, hearken to
your verdict as the Court records it. In
the issue joined between the Common
wealth of Pennsylvania, plaintiff, andj
Charles J. Lewis, Jackson P. Sullivan,
Mni-hhall Sullivan aud Decatur Tasker,
defendant, you say you find the defend
ants guilty in manner and form aa they
stand indicted, and so Bay you all."
Whilst the above formula was being
repeated by the Clerk, the silence of the
vast audience was to profound that each
.ersoii in the crowd could almost hear
bis neighbor think, and the altirmative
resjonse of the jury, although sjoken in
a low tone of voice, was distinctly heard j
in the furthermost parts of the room.

Honors to the Memory of the
Country's Heroic Dead.
The beautiful custom of strewing the
graves of the soldier dead with laurel and
roses, is one that is nlwavs observed bv
the people of Komeiset ; but never before
has there been such a multitude present
to take pait in the ceremonies. The
crowd commenced to gather in front of
the soldier's monument, in the Court
House grounds, shortly liefore noon, and
by one o'clock, the time 6xed by the
committee in charge, for the commence
ment of the services, there was an im
mense assembly. The Kuterpean and
Farmers bands entertained the crowd
w ith their choicest selections.
After the vast assembly hail been call
ed to order, Win. H. Koontz Eq. waa in-trodm-ed
and paid s glow ing tribute to
the nation't dead.
Immediately after the address a proces
sion was formed in the following order :

The procession was a fine one; tha
bright faces of the little ones, their very
evident consciousness that they were part
of a closely observed pageant, their stur
dy walk and their efforts to keep step and
time was a pleasing sight. The " boys"
of the (i. A. U. aro boys no longer, but
the stirring strains of the fife and drum
limbers their joints as nothing else can
and they swung into column w ith as much
apparent vim as in the days when they
pressed to victory w ith Grant in the wil
derness, or inarched with Shermanto the
sea. The Sons of Veterans, in the full
vigur c;f early manhood, marched next,
they are a fine Isnly of young men and
looked like worthy sons of worthy sires;
their ranks were not near so full as they
should have been. The Knights of the
(ioldeii l-igie, led by the Farmers band,
came next ; they marched well and pre
sented a very handsome and attractive
apiesrance ; the ouly thing that marred
their line was the fact that many mem
bers were not in complete uniform.
The column moved down Main Cross
street to the Hiamond, thence Weston
Main street to West street, then along
West street to the Lutheran Cemetery.
The decoration ceremonies were open
ed by Post Commander George IL Ive:
the band played a dirge and Kev. J. F.
Shearer made an appropriate, patriotic
and eloquent prayer; parts of the beau
tiful memorial service of the Grand Army
of the ltepublic were recited by Messrs.
C. J. Harrison, A. C. Havis, W. II. San-
ner and Oliver Kn?pper; the graves were
then strewn with flowers and Kev. John
II. Zinn, of Centrevilie, pronounced a
benediction. The procession was then
reformed and moved to the Reformed
cemetery, w here the soldiers graves were
lecorati.il ; after which it marched to
I'n ion street and was dismissed.

Grand Rapids, Mich., May 28.
Ch:irli Velte, an unmarri. j man and a
furniture worker by trade, mortally
wounded his mother and killed himself
last niirlit. He stabbed bis mother in
the breast and abdomen six or eight
times and then shot himself in the mouth
with a rifle. Velte has been out of work
for some time and very de?pondent. and
it is gupimsed that he was insane when
lie committed the double crime.

New York, May 28. Judge Daly'a
decUion in the Harriet Hubbard Ayer
case sustains Mrs. Ayer on all points
and severely criticises the action of J.
W. Sevmour and his associates in. the
ReoaniHT romiwny. Seymour's appli
cation for dismissal of the proceedings is
denied and the injunction obtained by
Mrs. Ayer is continued.
