Taakkaaaeek, lag. S4, 'fi>
Scrofiila, or King's Evil,
is a constitutional disease, a corruption of tks
blood, by which this fluid becomes ritiatsA.
weak, and poor. Being in the circulatioa, it
pervades the whole body, aud may burst Ht
in disease on any part of it. No orgait is free
from its attacks," nor is there one which it may
not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously
caused by mercurial disease, low living, dis
ordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth
and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and,
above all, by the venereal infection. What
ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the eon
stitution, descending " from parents to childm
unto the third and fourth generation;" indeed,
it seems to be the rod of Him who says, "I
will visit the iniquities of the fathers upe*
their children."
Its effects commence by deposition from the
blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, im
the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is teraefi
tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and oa
the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul aot
ruption, which genders in the blood, deprasna
the energies of life, so that scrofulous conetitm
tions not only suffer from scrofulous com
plaints, but they have far less power to with
stand the attacks of other diseases; conse
quently vast numbers perish by disorders
which, although not scrofulous in their naturs,
are still rendered fatal by this taint in this
system. Most of the consumption which de
cimates the human family lias its origin directly
in this scrofulous contamination; and many
destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, braia,
and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from at
are aggravated by the same cause.
One quarter of all our people are scrofuloas |
their persons are invaded by this lurking MB
fection, aud their health is undermined by it.
To cleanse it from the system we must renQvata
the blood by an alterative medicine,* and in
vigorate it by healthy food and txitaMr
Such a medicine we supply in
AYER'S
Compound Extract of Sarsaparilli,
the most effectual remedy which the medical
skill of our times can devise for this every
where prevailing and fatal malady. It is com
bined from the most active remediate that hava
been discovered for the expurgation of this fowl
disorder from the blood, and the rescue of ths
system from its destructive consequences.
Hence it should he employed for the curs #f
not only Scrofula, but also those other affeo
tions which arise from it, such as ERUFTITM
and SKIN DIKKAHKN, ST. ANTHONY'S Fiaa,
Rosa, or ERYSIPELAS PIMPLES PUSTURBB,
BI.OTCIIKS. BRAINS and BOILS 1 UMORS-TETTIA
and SART RHEUM. SCALD IIKAI>, RINGWORM,
! RHEUMATISM, SYVIIIRITIC and MKKCI KIAI, DIS
EASES, I)KOI>SY, DYSPEPSIA, DP.HII.ITT, and,
; indeed, AI.I. COMPLAINTS ARISING PROM VITIA
TED OR IMPURE BROOD. The popular belief
in " imparity of the blood " is founded ill truth,
for scrofulu is a degeneration of the blood. The
particular purpose and'virtue of this Sarsapa
rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid,
without which pound health is impossible in
contaminated constitutions.
AYER'S
Ague Cure,
FOR THE SPEEDY CURE OF
! Intermittent Fever, or Fevtr snd Agat;
Remittent Fever, Chill Fever, Dsak
Ague, Periodical Headache, or BUISRI
I Headache, and Billons Fevers, indeed
i Tor the whole class of diseases originat
ing In biliary derangement, caused by
the Malaria of Miasmatic Countries.
We are enabled here to offer the community a
I remedy which, while it cures the above complaints
with certainty, is still perfectly harmless in say
quantity. Such a remedy is invaluable in district#
1 where these afflicting disorders prevail. Tliia
I "CURE" expels the miasmatic poison of Fxvsa
J AND AGUE from the system, and prevents the de
velopment of the disease, if taken on the first an
! proach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only
i the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class
of complaints, but alo the cheapest, 'lhe large
quantity we supply for a dollar brings it within tne
reach of every body ; and in bilious districts, where
I, FEVER AND AGUE prevails, every body should
have it and use it freely both for cure and protec
tion. A great superiority of this remedy oyer any
\ other e\tr discovered for the speedy and certain
1 cure of Intermittent* is that it coouuii* no Quiniae
or mineral, consequently it produces no quinism at
other injurious effects whatever upon the constitu
tion. Those cured by it are left as healthy as if
they bad never had the disease.
Fever and Ague is not alone the consequence e#
the miasmatic poison. A great variety t>f disor
ders arise from its irritation, among which arw -
yeuralgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Headache, Mind
nets, Toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asthma, Pad
pitation, Painful Affections/ the Spleen, Hyster
ics, Pain in the Bowels, Colic, Paralysis and De
rangement of the Stomach, all of which, whrg
originating iii this cause, put on the intermittent
tope, or become periodical. This *' CURB " expels
the poison from the blood, and consequently curee
them all alike. It is an invaluable protection to
immigrants and persons travelling or temporarily
residing in the malarious district*. If taken occa
sionally or daily while exposed to the infection,
that will be excreted from the system, and eaa&ot
accumulate in sufficient quantity to ripen into dis
ease. Hence it is even more valuable for pretaa
tion than cure, and few will ever suffer from Inter
mittent* if thev avail themselves of the proteetiea
this remedy affords.
