CAMPBELL Taakkaaaeek, lag. 24, '65, V*. aW( Scrofula, or King's Evil, is a constitutional disease, a corruption of the blood, by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst eat in disease on any part of it. No organ is free from ita attacks, nor is there one which it nay not destroy. The scrofulous taint is rariouily caucd by mercurial disease, low living, dis ordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and til thy habits, the depressing view, and, above dll, by tlie venereal infection. What ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the con stitution. descending " from parents to chddraa unto the third and fourth generation;" indeed, it seems to be the rod of llim who says, " I will vi?it the iniquities of the fathers upon their children." Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, m the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is temed tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. Tnie foul cor ruption, which genders in the blood, depreaaaa the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitu tions not only suffer from scrofulous 0- plaints, but they have far less power to with stand the attacks of other diseases; conse quently vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in tha system. Most of the consumption which de cimates the human family lias its origin direetly in this scrofulous contamination; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or arc aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous ; their persons are invaded by this lurking in fection, and their health is undermined by it.- To cleanse it from the system we must leuiyvnt* the blood by an alterative medicine, and in vigorate it by healthy food and txeroiw. Such a medicine we supply in AYER'S Compound Extract of Snrsaparifla, the mo't effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this every where prevailing and fatal malady. It is bined from the most active remedials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this disorder from the blood, and the rescue of thn system from its destructive consequences. Ilence it should be employed for the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affec tions which arise from it, such as ERVFTIVR and SKI* DISEASES, ST. ANTHONY'S HOSE, or ERYSIPELAS, PIMPI.ES, PUSTULBS,, BLOTCHES, BI.AINS and BOILS, 1 CMORS, 1 ETTER and SALT RHEUM, SCALD HEAD, RINGWORM, RHEUMATISM, SYPHILITIC and MERCURIAL DIS-. KASEI, DROPSY, DYSPEPSIA, DFHILITT, and. indeed, ALI. COMPLAINTS ARISING FROM VITIA TED OK IMPURE BLOOD. The popular belief in " impurity of the blood " is founded in truth, for scrofula is "a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. LAYER'S Ague Cure, FOR THE SPEED* CURE OF Intermittent Fever, or Fever andAgae, Remittent Fever, Chili Fever, Dnmk Ague, Perloclil Headache, or Billowa Headache, and Hilton* Fevers, Indeed for the whole elasn of diseases originat ing 1" biliary derangement, ranged by the Malaria of Miasmatic Countries. We are enabled here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, is still perfectly harmless in any quantity. Such a remedy is invaluable in districts where these afflicting disorders prevail. This " CURE " expels the miasmatic poison of FEVER AND AGUE from the system, and prevents the de velopment of the disease, if taken on the first ap proach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class of complaints, but also the cheapest, 'lhe large i quantity we supply for a dollar brings it within the ' reach of every body ; and in bilious districts, where I FEVER AND AGUE prevails, every bodv should , have it and use it freely both for cure and protee | tiun. A great superiority of this remedy over any ' other ever discovered for the speedy and cartaiß cure of lntermittents is that it contains 110 Quinine or mineral, consequently itproduces no quiuisna or other injurious effects whatever upon the constitu tion. Those cured by it are left as healthy as if ; they had never bad the disease. lever and Ague is not alone the consequence of ! the miasmatic poison. A great variety of diter j ders arise from its irritation, among which aro j Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Headache, Bhnd nrss, "toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asthma, Pal pitation, Painful Affection r f the Spleen, Hyster ics, Pain in the Bowels, Colic, Paralysis and De ranqement of the Stomach, all of which, whem originating in this cause, put on the intermittent type, or become periodical. This " CURB " expels the poison from the blood, and consequently cure* them all alike. It is an invaluable protection to immigrants and persons travelling or temporarily residing in the malarious districts. If taken ocen sionallv or daily while exposed to the infection, that will be exer. ted from the system, and canaot accumulate in sufficient quantity to ripen into dis ease. Hence it is even more valuable for pro too tion than cure, and few will ever suffer from lnter mittents if they avail themselves of the protection j this remedy alfords. Prepared by Dr. J. C. AYER &.
