Once we bad a fragrant blossom,
Full of sweetness, full of love,
And the angel came and plucked it,
Fur tho beauteous realms anove
Tearfully we lowly laid her,
Neath the grass that grew so green ;
Aud the form of gentle Ilattio
la our home no more was seen.
Oh! sweet Ilattie when we meet thee,
In the joyous realms above,
Gladly will we haste to greet thee,
Filling all our hearts with love

From the toils and tumults of the day,
The Lord has called <ur chil awav,
To dwell with Christ in realms of bliss,
Relieve! from pain whore all is peace.
But why indulge in grief, and gloom,
Twas Jesus called 1 erto his home.
Cease thy murmurs; Peace, be s ill;
It was her Makers sovereign will

JU THE peculiar taint or

CMK SCROFULA lurks in
the constitutions of
?ri multitudes of men. It
r >-rfccliled, vitiated state
/fe °f the Hood, wherein
1 fluid becomes in
rgaL> tl competent to sustain
mfS&fft- f/^piaf£^ t ' ie v ' ta ' f° rceß their
MEgggjf vigorous action, and
leaves the svstem to
fall into disorder and
decay. The scrofuloua
contamination is variously caused by mercurial
disease, low living, disordered digestion from
unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy
habits, the depressing vices, and, above all,
the venereal infection. W hatcver be its origin,
it iR hereditary in the constitution, descending
"from parents to children unto the third and
fourth generation ;" indeed, it seems to lie the
rod of Him who says, " I will visit the iniqui
ties of the fathers upon their children." The
diseases which it originates take various names,
according to the organs it attacks. In the
lungs, Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally
Consumption ; in the glands, swellings which
suppurate and become ulcerous sores ; in the
stomach and bowels, derangements which pro
duce indigestion, dyspepsia, anil liver com
plaints; on the skin, eruptive and cutaneous
affections, 'llicse all having the same origin,
require the same remedy, viz. purification und
invigoration of the blood. I'urify the blood,
and these dangerous distcmfiers leave you.
With feeble, foul, or corrupted Mood, vou can
not have health ; with that " hfe of the flesh"
healthy, you cannot lutve scrofulous disease.
Ayor's Saraaparilla
is compounded from the most effectual anti
dotes that medical science lias discovered for
this afflicting distemper, and for the enre of tho
disorders it entails. That it is far superior to
any other remedy vet devised, is known by all
who have given it a trial. That it does com
bine virtues truly extraordinary in their effect
upon this class of complaints, is indisputably
proven bv the great multitude of publicly
known and remarkable cures it has made of
the following diseases : King's Evil Or
Glandular Swelling', Tumors, Erup
tions, Pimple 3, Blotches and Sores, Ery
sipelas. 1t036 or St. Anthony's Fire. Salt
Bheum, Scald Head, Coughs from tu
berculous deposits in the lungs, White
Swellings, Lebility, Dropsy, Beuralgia,
Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Syphilis and
Syphilitic Infections, Mercurial Diseases,
Female Weaknesses, d, indeed, the whole
series of complaints that arise from impurity
of the blood. Minute reports of individual
eases may be found in AYER'S AMERICAN
ALMANAC, which is furnished to the druggists
for gratuitous distribution, wherein may le
learned the directions for its use, and some of
the remarkable cures whi< li it has made when
nil other remedies had failed to atlbrd relief.
Those cases are purposely taken from all sec
tions of the country, in order that every reader
may have access to some one who can speak to
him of its benefits from personal experience.
Scrofula depresses the vital energies, and thus
leaves its victim- far more subject to disease
and its fatal results than arc healthy constitu
tions. Hence it tends to shorten, and does
greatly shorten, the average duration of human
life. The vast importance of these considera
tions has ied us to s|>cnd years in perfecting a
remedy which i adequate to its cure. This
we now offer to the public uudcr the name of
AYER'S SAKSAPAKILLA, although it is com-
Eo:e:! of ingredients, some of which exceed the
est of Stirs • pan/fa in alterative power. By
its aid you may protect yourself from the suffer
ing and danger of these disorders. Purge out
the foul corruption- that rot and fester in tho
blood; purge out the causes of disease, and
vigorous health will follow. By its peculiar
virtues this remedy stimulates the vital func
tions, and thus expels the distempers which
lurk within the system or burst out on any
pert of it.
We know the public have been deceived by
many compound- of Sir.<ui/.ai'illa, that promised
much and did nothing ; but they will neither lie
de rived nor disapjiointed in this. Its virtues
have been proven t>v abundant trial, and there
remains no question of its su> passing excellence
for the cure of the afflicting diseases it is in
tended to reach. Although under the same
name, it is a very different medicine from any
other which has liecn liefore the people, aud is
far more effectual than any other which h&s
ever bccu available to thcra.
AYER'3
