Aib CM| SCROFULA lurks in
the constitutions of
i of men. It
WV-JWO/ g \ either produces or is
r r °Hoctl by an en
| lt:el,,cd * vitiated state
I wherein
yy ffypg** fluid becomes in
il "stcompetent to sustain
vital forces in their
Ir? action, and
leaves the system to
~ fall into disorder and
decay. The scrofulous
rontamtnation is variously caused hv mercurial
disease, low living, disordered digestion from
j unhetilthy foo<l, impure air, filth and filthv
habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by
the venereal infection. \\ hatever be its origin,
it i- hereditary in the constitution, descending
'■ from parents to children unto the third ana
fourth generation ; " indeed, it scents to l>e the
roil of llim who says, 1 will visit tlio iniqui
j ties of the fathers upon their children." The
diseases which it originates take various names,
according to the organs it attacks. In tho
lungs. Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally
Consumption; in the glands, swellings which
suppurate and become ulcerous sores; in the
stomach and bowels, derangements which pro
duce indigestion, dyspepsia, and liver com
j plaints, on the skin, eruptive and cutaneous
affections. I hose till having the same origin,
j require the same remedy, viz. purification and
| invigoration of the blood. Purify the blood,
: and these d mgerous distempers" leave you.
i With feeble, foul, or corrupted blood, vou oan-
I not have health; with that ' life of the flesh"
healthy, you cannot have scrofulous dLeusc.
Ayer's Sarsaparilla
I is compounded from the mot effectual anti
dotes that medical science has discovered for
, thi- afflicting distemper, and for the cure of the
| disorders it entails. That it is far superior to
j any other remedy yet devised is known by all
I who have given it a trial. That it does torn
i bine virtues truly extraordinary in their effect
upon tats c!.i.s of complaints, is indisputably
j proven bv ttie great multitude of publicly
: known and remarkable cures it has made of
the following diseases : King's Evil OT
Glandular Swellings, Tumors, Erup
tions, Pimples, Blotches and Sores, Ery
sipelas. Rose or St. Anthony's Fire. Salt
Rheum, Scald Head, Cough 3 from tu
berculous deposits in the lungs, White
Sweliings, Debility, Dropsy, Neuralgia,
Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Syphilis and
Syphilitic Infections, Mercurial Diseases,
| Female Weaknesses, and. indeed, the whole
, serie- of complaints that arise from impurity
i of the blood. Minute reports of individual
j ca-es may be found in AYER'S AMERICAN
| A t.it VN \c, which is furnished to the druggists
[ for gratuitous distribution, wherein mav he
j learned the directions for its use, and some of
' the remarkable cures which it has made when
| all other remedies had failed to afford relief,
i Tiio-e cases are purposely taken from all sec
tions of the country, in order that every reader
may have aeees> to some one who can speak to
him of its benefits from persona! experience.
Scrofula depre.-ses the vital energies, and thus
leaves its victims far more subject to disease
and its fatal re.-ults than are healthy constitu
tions. llence it tends to shorten, and does
greatly shorten, the average duration of human
life. The vast importance of these considera
tions has led us to spend years in perfecting a
remedy which is adequate to its cure. This
we now offer to the public under the name of
AYER'S SARSU ARILLA, although it is com
po-i'd of ingredients, sonic of which exceed the
best of Snr*ifiiin/iti in alterative power. Hy
its aul you may protect yourself front the suffer
| ijc_r and danger of these disorders. I'urge out
i the foul corruptions that rot and fester in the
| blood; purge out the causes of disease, and
vigorous health will follow. Jly its peculiar
j virtue- this remedy -Emulates the vital func
tions, and thus expels the distempers which
j lurk within the system or burst out on any
part of it.
We know the public have been deceived bv
many compound- of Siren/ u> illn, that promised
much and did nothing ; but they will neither he
deceived nor di-uppoimed in this. Its virtues
have Been ;woven v abundant trial, and there
remains no question of its surpassing excellence
I for the <uie of the afflicting diseases it is in
| tended to reach. Although under the same
j name, it is a very different medicine from any
I other which has been before the people, and is
i far more effectual than any other which has
' e\ er been available to them.
