I New Hampshire Election.—The election
L r Governor, and members of Congress in New
[Hampshire came off on Tuesday of last week.—
there being three candidates in the field for Gov
ernor, no choice was made, as the constitution re
quires a majority vote to elect. The Democratic
candidate received the largest vote, and only lacks a
few hundreds of a majority above all others.
Two Republican congressmen to one Democrat
[were elected. The Legislature is republican and
[will Secure the choice of a woolly-head for Governor.
There have been large Democratic gains since the last
flection,
The Connecticut election on the first Monday of
April, will also show that the ball is rolling even
in abolitionized New England.
Bills for the sale of personal proper

cy of the Democratic party, and will, therefore, nec
essarily fhvor the restoration of the Union as it was,
and defend the Constitution of the United States, and

jects of newspaper comment, including of course, and
pre-eminently at this time, all questions connected
with the existing unhappy c ondition of our ountry.
It will fearlessly criticise tho public actsof public
servants, and defend the legal and constitutional
rights of individual citizens ana of sovereign states,
against assualts from any quarter.
It will seek to awaken the minds of the people to
a proper sense of the actual conditiou of the Repub
lic—to present to them, truthfully, the fearful perils
in which we stand as a nation —to exhibit the magni
tude of the task that is before them, if they would
check our downward progress—and to inspire them
with patriotio determination to apply THE REMEDY
for our national ills. *
In brief, it will, in fill things, aim to l>e the faith
ful exponent of Democratic principles, and to render
itself worthy to be an organ of the Democratic par
ty, under whose auspices our country prospered so
long and so well. The restoration of that party—
the party of the CONSTITUTION and the UNION— to
power, in the legislative and executive governmen
tal branches of the States and of the Union, we be
lieve to be necessa ryto avert anarchy, and the utter
ruin of the Republic. To contribute to that restora
tion will be ocr highest aim.
The News, Literary, Commercial, and other de
partments, will receive due attention, and will be so
conducted as to make "THE AGE" worthy of the
support of the general reader.
