The Weather for the past two weeks has been,
what the almanac makers would have called, had
they known anything about it—'' Variable". — It
has alternated every day or two between the soft,
balmy air of spring, arid the keen piercing breath of
winter. We bare ha a liitle snow, a little sunshine
and considerable rain; often, ail three in the same
day. Women are set down by some writer (some
crusty old Batch, of course) as fickle, but the weath

most coquetish gal of forty among them.

often to such an extent as to fill up the fire chambers
of a small cylinder stove till it become, no;.r y u-e-

the attempt to do so. We have kn iwn instance,
where the family h i i to sulf jr ail die ineonvenien

be sent to the shop for repairs, in consequence of
these clinkers. There is an easy way to get rid of
them. When a charge of coal has been burned
down pretty well, and is all aglow throw in half a
dozen pieces of oyster shells and £ll upwit'n coal,
and let it burn very hot, and you will find the clink

Are you in the arms of death ?

I ki sed thy icy clay
I'eath had stilled thy childish prattle 1
Ere the form was borne away.
See the little v icant place,
When the dinner table's spread;
How we miss your smiling face!
Nelly dear, when you are dead !
Now I read a soothing message,

This sweet child is all my own.

To my bosom kindly given;
