CENTRAL OFFICE, SANITARY COMMISSION, WASHINGTON, October 2d 1862- The inquiry being frequently made whether the Commission wishes to receive apples for the use of the Wounded, it should immediately be published, a3 widely as possible, that dried apples cannot be sent to its depots in too largo quantities. Town and vil lage Relief Societies arc requested to make arrango taents for paring, cutting and drying by their mem" lers, and such volunteer assistance as they can enlist, and to notify farmers that they will receive such good Fruit as they may be disposed to offer and are unable themselves to properly pi mare. Dried apples may be sent in barrels or boxes, or in strong bags marked '•tobe kept dry." Dried fruits of other kinds, and till good canned fruits, will be very acceptable. FRED. OBITUARY NOTICE. FACTORY \ ILLR, Pa., ) Otft 6th., 1362. i The funeral of 2nd, Serg't, J. 11. Teneyck, who fell at the battle of Antietam, Sept. 17th, took placa Oct 20th. A large concourse of people were in atten dance, and among them, formed in procession, with appropriate badges of mourning were the fraterni ties of Free Masons and Odd Fellows, of both of. which Orders the Deceased was a member. Rev. J. Labar, preached an eloquent and impressive dis course, from Ist. Timothy, 4th, 7th, " I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept my faitfi," After which by apportionment of the eocret Societies present, Dr A. T. Brundago, deli vet 1 "cd an address to them and the mourners present. — The two societies in conjunction then passed resolu tions of condolence with the immediate relations and "friends of tho deceased, and appointed the under signed to prepare a notice of the proceedings on the Occasion, to be fotwarded to the Co papers. Broth er Tcnevck was well known in this society, and his loss will be severely felt in our village. But it is a source of consolation to all that he died at his p,?t. fearlessly fighting for the rights of Humanity. While in that terrible cross fire, under which so many of Gapt. Ingham's Co. fell, he received a ball in the foot, and turning to Ingham he said: (apt, lam rfeunded, and must leave the field. At the same time commencing to hobble off, Ho had not pro ceeded far, before a ball struck him in the knee, and soon after another pierced his breast, v.hen he fell and'expired. But though he died on that field of strife, with no wife or sister near to whisper wolds of comfort into his dying ear, yet, he doubtless had a friend with him, who was nearer still, for he was a "christian, an i He who has said, "I will never leave nor forsake thee," never decieves. After the battle his body, togeihe with that of First Sorgt. Warner, who fell on the same bloody field, were interred in a "common grave, and there let tiiein repose, until the sound of tho last trump, lou ler than the world's ar tillory, shall awake the sheeted tenants of tho nar row house. Then we shall meet them again in a world where the din of battle, and the groans of the "dying will not be heard. Till then, ye martyrs in the holy cause of Liberty, farewell ! A. T. BRCNDAGE. SQI'IER—On the 7th inst., at her father's residence in Nicholson, DELIA, wife of Arab fquier, aril daughter of Elijah and Nancy Bali. Little did Delia and her parents think when :-he met them, it was for the last time, but so it proved Notwithstanding the aid of a skillful physician, and the attention of kind parents, who watcbe i oer her and spent the midnight oil in ministering to her wants, all proved of no avail; for in less than one month after meeting with her parents, her sj irit took its flight, and has gone to the God who gave it. Deep is the grief of her husband, who has been called the second time to part with a kind companion; but ""bile her husband and friends mourn, they mourn not as one that is lost, for she has left a bright evi dence, that she has gone to reap her reward in hea ven. She has gone--thc faithful wife—the affection nfe mother—the reliable christian —gone to her hea venly rest May grace sustain and sanctify the be reaved family, until all are gathered into the fold of Christ, and admitted into heaven at last.
