LOCALSi Court Week.—Court commences on Monday the 18th inst,, i. e. next Iveefc. Our delinquent'subscrib ers are remin-fod t*at wo still live in Tunkhannock, the county scat, nr.d would be happy to receive a call from them —if nothing more. Call in, gentlemen, and 3ee ui>; wo're growing better looking every day. Another Company to be Raised.—Mr. I S. Little hopes to save Wyoming from a draft by raising qoother volunteer company. It is said that a draft Yill be resorted to without regard to tho numbers already sent from this county. Mr. Little, however, has gone to Harrisbtirg to inquire into the matter, and if successful in affecting an arrangement to save drafting, will immediately return and resume the en listments, which have been sit nu->picioti?lj commenced by him, for another full company. Mr Little is one of our most accomplished, energetic, and thorough business men A captain in whatever he undertakes, end we doubt not would be entirely successful in rais ing our full quota bv volunteering. |fgr" That the American people are appreciative of any substantial service rendered them, is seen in the result of Dr. Ayer's enterprise. It was something ot a ven uro for a chemist of his splendid reputation among tho literati of the world, to risk it in the pro action of Cough Drops and Pills. But he boldly threw himself intojhe gap where his talents could b*t.nl"r~e tho prblte Weal, and it is n w easy to see that he old But misjudge the tempbr of bis coun trymen. Throughout this nation nfid ♦f'khe foreign lands, his name is foremost at the bedside of sickness —while in the good h.' scatter?, ha is second to no living man. . He wins the brightest laurels man can wear, and enjoys in untold measure the luxury of do ing good.— Observer. Debuqtte, loiva. Hardware for the Million. —During a short visit to Seranton last week, we called upon Hunt, Brothers & Blair, the proprietors of the largest and most extensive Hardware establishment in the coun try. We were shown through the establishment from celUr to garret by the gentlemanly proprietors, and found everything, in their line, that we had overseen, and many things that we had never seen nor heard •of. To attempt anything like even a general enum eration, by us, would bo entirely futile—suffice to say, that the Carpenter, the Blacksmith, the Shoe maker, and Haruess-msker can find all their tools there. The Wagon-maker, everything that pertains to a wagon, from the felloes, sjHikes, aud hubs, to the tassels, tacks, and triiuioitogn. The Hbttse-builder will find his paints, oils, wifilo'v-sftsh and glass, door knobs and bells, sash locks, gre'e*. furnaces, man tics, Ac. Th# Mill-Wright will find '.in belting-rivets, holts, Ac. Va., on Sunday, Aug 3 ( ] I BENTLV STARK, son of Seth B Stark, of Nivcn, Susquehanna County. Aged about 20 years. Bentlyeoliafed to serve his Country early in the fall of 1861, joining thoU ompuny known as the "Wy emiug Rifles," Capt. P. Sides, and tffcm left for the seat of war. Soon after reaching CampOurtin, he weceeded by his upright deportment, in gaining not only the essteem, but .the ent ; re confidence of his company ; the officers soon noticing in hira the trne mark of a soldier gave him at once the office of Corporal, the first step to promotion. To say that he ever performed his duly as a soldier, hrnorably, faith fully, and bravely, is saying nothing more than is justly bis due. His £esltb continued good up to the battle of l air Oaks. May 31, but (be morning after the battle unmistakeable signs of disease were plain ly visible, h'.s countenance being very pale nnd hag gard, yet a few days' rest partially restored him to health. As-soon as his strength would permit he again shouldered his musket and entered tbe ranks of his compapy—continuing to perform fbe most dang erous and arduious duties up to Monday's fight, near White Oak Swainp. But the hardships of the seven day*' battles were morethan bis already slender frame irtoi l bear He barely succeeded, by great efforts, in . reaching Harrison's Landing, where he entered the hospital— remaining a few days until he had gained sufficient strength to again join his regiment, I where he remained up to his death. Paring the last ; few day he had been sinking gradually and peace fully away. On the morning of his death he was vis ited by sereral members of his company; but that sleepy-like stupor had taken possession of his facul ties, from which nothing could arouse hitßi Thus be p<is?cd away, merely sinking into a quiet, peaceful sleep, never again to be awakened by the sound of trie war bugle, or call to arms. The relatives of the deceased have tho sympathy of the entire company —all feelingthat we have lost a kind and obliging friend, and a true and noble brother in arms. L; W. AVERT. BLACKMAR—Of Consumption, at Meshoppen, Wy oming County, Pa., July 3d, 1862, JOHN A. BLACK MAR, in the 33d year of his age. Mr. Blaekusar was esteemod, by all who knew him, as an honest and upright mac—a worthy and highly respected citizen, whose loss will be severely felt in our community. lie was not unmindful of his ap i preaching dissolution, Ihough his disease, Consdinp*- ' tion, perhaps the most deceptive of a!! that afflict our j race— made slow, but sure progress. He saw that he must soon pass through the darkyally and sbadotv | of death, and felt that he needed a Savior.
