Katie Kerstetter, while watching
the cows at the canal, saw a three
foot snake ready to have breakfast
on chicken salad but with some out
side aid succeeded to kill the snake
and saved the chicken.
Our township is burdened with
worthless dogs which the owners
would dispose off at any price and
it there is a bologna factory or a
tannery iu the stuto that can use
them they ought to advertise in some
Democratic paper for they can have
them by paying transportation.

M0R09 RENEW ATTACKS
American Forces In Mindanao Reputee
Them Without Lota.
Manila, Aug. 19. The Moroa in
Mindanao are renewing their attacks
upon tie outposts and pack trains ot
the American column at Lake Lanao,
which is under the command of Cap
tain J. J. Pershing, of the Fifteenth
Cavalry. The Americans have suo
iC3sfa!!y repi ho Moro attacks
and have suffered no losses. The com
manders of the American forces on
Mindanao report aggressive action
against the Moros to be necessary,
and ask permission to move ngainst
llacolod and other strongholds of the
hostile Mohammedans. There are
about 2,000 soldiers on Mindanao
available for the desired active move
ment. It is believed this number is
sufficient to defeat the Moros, al
though it would possibly be necessary
to strengthen their base before under
taking the movement.
Fighting With Ladrones.
A force of native constabulary en
gaged a band of Ladrones in a sharp
fight last Saturday near Calooean,
about four miles north of Manila. The
arrival of reinforcements for the con
stabulary won them the victory. Four
members of the constabulary were
killed and one was wounded. The
Ladrones left three of their number
dead, but carried off their wounded.
The chase of the Cavite Ladrones
through the mountains of that prov
ince continues. Forces of native con
stabulary have had encounters with
the bands of Felizardo and Mnntallon.
Several of the Ladrones were killed
or raptured and n quantity of their
supplies wore destroyed.
