Duringa severe electrical storm last Wednesday lightning struck near the residence of General John P. Taylor, above Reedsville, Mitllin Co. Follow iug a heavy wire the lightning entered the kitchen, where Miss Lottie Mitch ell, a servant was nt work, it struck the steel buckle on her belt. Following the belt, the lightning en circled her waist, leaving marks on both the belt and her clothing. The young lady received a severe shock, from which she has not yet fully recovered. Relore we begin to live this life, fear and nngcr must be eliminated. These are two great forces of evil, depression, ill health and ill success. There is something more than senti ment in this. It is a fact of science that anger is poison. Rage infects the entire system. Any physician will testify to this. Fear operates In the same way. Good health depends largely upon good temper and freedom from fear, and success depends upon good health nnd hopeful minds. It may be laid down as nxirniatic that, giving good health, every man obtains the meas ure of success of which he is worthey. Without gxd health no amount of natural ability or acquired learning can win for him what belongs to him. Get rid of nnger and fear. Slate College Gets Library. Andrew Carnegie has notified Dr. Geo. Let your soul never be disturbed, ig nore what worry is. If an nd'air docs not succeed as well as you expected, you must rejoice I s'forc (!od at every thing He is pleased to do. I lie tilings that appear most important to nature are only trifles in the estimation of a christian, because nothini: has any im portance for him except w hat G d wishes. Trouble and worry are for hell; the children of ( iod ought imt to know them. Work in all peace and tranquility; do your utmost according to the nature of the things by which you are surrounded, ami to the circum stances In which you lii id yourself: leave the rest to the care of God's Provi dence. If He is pleased to crow n your labors with success, rejoice before Him and give Him most humble thanks; if on tho other hand, everything goes wrong, bless Him still with your w hole soul. A christian who acts thus al ways passes his life in peace, in joy and happiness. At the end of this miser able life, which is of little account, there will come a happiness of which I will not undertake to speak to you for fear of not doing so worthily. Fx. Special Met'tini;.
