and which Wagner put in liis pocket
and then disappeared without using it
for the purpose for which it was in
tended. On Friday morning, June 7th, Wag
ner was arrested and later, before Jus
tice of tne Pence Fortlgof Northumber
land, gave hail in the sum of $800 for a
hearing, June 15.
Wagner claims that the money was
placed on stocks us desired by the dif
ferent buyers and was not misappro
priated as they claim, which be says
lie will be able to prove.
Mr. Wendl and Mr. Harding who
claim to have suffered the loss of the
money have retained the law llrm of
Knighl A Loeh of Bunbury, and At
torney Glass, of Snydor County, to re
present them at the hearing Saturday.
Counsel will be retained by Wagner In
hi own defense and the outcome of the
case will be watched with interest.

OBITUARY.
Mrs. Lydio Hood died near Richfield,
Fa., June s, 1001, aged 71) yrs., I os.
and 14 days. She was born In Beaver
township, I'nion Co. She wasa high
ly respected citizen in the community
and a very active and exemplary
Christian unto the end of her life, sin
was known as ''Mother Hood" for
many years. For a long time she suf
fered much bodily pain, but notwith
standing this she bad an unfaltering
faith and comforl in God whom she
so faithfully served for about forty flvu
years. Her end was a sigual triumph
in her Master. Her remains ( re laid
