Haymond Katz, the Middleburg
clothier, is spending this week in
Philadelphia and Baltimore laving
in anew supply ot Fall and Winter
clothing. Mr. Katz. has been in
business here for six months and by
honest dealing has won for himself
an excellent reputation asa reputable
business man.
The farmers and pure butter men
are to have a joint public meeting
during the Grange Encampment at
Centre Hall, on Thursday, Sept. 20,
to which all those interested in good
government are invited. The meet
ing will be held ill the auditorium,
which has a seating capacity of over
a thousand people.

DROWNED IN MiLL RACE.

Tuesday afternoon about one
o'clock as A. B. Gilbert was walk
ing along Ulsh's mill race, he dis
covered a human body in the water.
Not wishing to take the responsi
bility upon himself, he sounded the
alarm. A. (i. Ba-hoar, II. II.

Bolender hastened up and dragging
the body ashore discovered it was
Harvey Biillingtou of Franklin.
An examination readily disclosed
that life was extinct. A coroner's
jury was empanelled who rendered
a verdict oi accidental drowning.
Mr. Spiegelmeyer, division boss,
saw him about ten o'clock in the
morning. He walked along the
railroad track toward the place
where he was found. He probably
lay down near the bridge at the
dam. The grass was pressed down
near the edge of the bank which
leads to the belief that hi lav down,
fell asleep and lolled into the water.
His hat was found at this place while
the body had floated about 200 yards.
There were no marks oi violence,
and the body must have been in the
water over two hours.
After tlie inquest the body w as
taken to the home ol his mother.
He was about 28 years ol age, single
nnd lived at home. The accident
caused considerable excitement. The
sympathies oi the community go out
to the bereaved family.

hence he was aged 68 years, t months
and 29 days. He was married 48
years ago to Mary M. Geiger with
whom he had seven children: John,
married Harriet Taggarf and resides

MURDERED.
At Buoua Vista, Ills., He and
His Wife were Killed aud
Robbed.
John Bohh and his w ile were both
killed Friday night, August 24th,
in their home near IJucnil Vista,
Stephenson '., Ills. John Bobb is
a brother ol Iteuhcn Bobb, of Bea
vertown, this i nty, and an uncle
ot Mrs. K.C, Walter, of this place.
.lohn I'obb formerly lived in Suyder
(then Union) county, but 54 years
ago went west by wagon and settled
near the spol he and his wife w ere
killed. The murder wasdiscovcred
by a neighbor but not until Satur
day noon. Susoicioii rests on a
tramp who had been seen in the
neighborh I. Alter committing
the murder, he ransacked the house
and seeured $100 in llloliev and
some clothing. The tramp discard
ed his owu blood-stained shirt and
put on one ot Mr. Bobb's which he
had stolen. The shirt discarded by
the tramp has I n identified by
several persons who saw him wear
it,
Mr. Bobb was 92 ars of age
ami his wile was .s;;. He was twice
married, the lirst wife having ac
companied him west. The funeral
took place Sunday, Aug. 2(1.
