Clark, of Newark. N. .1., president of
the William Clark Thread company,
died suddenly at his home at Watch
Hill yesterday of heart failure, which
followed a severe attach of indigestion.
Hp was well known on both sides of
the Atlantic. Mr. Clark, in spite of his
Kreat age, never ceased to take an In
terest in tlie business, and he was at
his desk up to hist Friday. The funeral i
of Mr. Clark will take place in Newark
on Thursday.

the Bessemer association here yester
day an important step was decided
upon, with the object of preventing a
further decline in the price of pig iron.
It was agrei d that all the furnaces pro
ducing Bessemer pip; should go out of
blast until Sept. 1. with the exception
of the furnace of the Brier Hill Iron
and Coal company and thai of the Andrews-Hitchcock
company at Youngs

Discourse n Ihe One Born Blind,
We ciime now to the text of the lesson
proper. The Jews believed that sick
ness, suffering or deformity of any
kind was caused by sin, and' We may
make the broad statement that but
for sin there would not be any sufTcr

who asked: "Who did sin. this man

suffering. He was blind that his si;rht
might be restored by Jesus, and show
the power of God. Jesus Himself is
the preat example of the truth here
involved. His WSS a spotless, stain
less character, yet lie suffered as no
man ever has or ever enn suffer. It
was that the works of Ood might be
made manifest.
