Henry Boyer, a veteran ol the
late war, dropped over dead at Ccn-
ireville on Memorial Day. lie was
buried Friday. The tuueral was
attended by the U. A. lv. of this
place. Deceased was 7- years ol
age.
Eugene Snyder ol Akron, Ohio,
formerly ol fort Treverlou, ua at
the county seal last Friday. Eugene
lias made his mark in the Buckeye
Slate. He is at the head ol the me
chanical department ol some large
uiauutacturuig plant.
Charles liiegle ol Union County
was lodged in me county jail here
last Wednesday on the charge ol
stealing a horse from Mrs. Amos
Fugle near Luchiel, Union Comity.
It appears the horse he stole was a
very good horse which he traded on
a very poor horse and it is presumed
he got considerable "Boot ' money.
As the crime was committed in Uni
on CUttUty the prisoner was taken to
I talon county Thursday.
We acknowledge the receipt of an
invitation from t has. S. Botteiger
of ( owan, Pa., to attend the graduat
ing exercises of Gettysburg College,
June 13, Mr. Botteiger wasone of
the youngest pupils in the Cowan
(iraimnar school ten years OffO when
tiie writer taught there. The writer
then predicted that this young man
would make his mark. He has
scored his first victory and we feel
sure of hearing more concerning him
iu the future.
The memorial exercises on May
30th passed of! very pleasantly. Prof.
A. A. Killian delivered a very ac
ceptable memorial address in the
cemetery at this place. The town
put on a holiday appearance after
the exercises. The lads and lasses
were out in all the latest regalia.
Quite a large number of people were
entertained by a band concert after
which Mr. Arndt and his three sons,
who are brickmakers at the brick
yard, won many friends by singing
familiar songs in the square. Others
wended their way to the weighing
social and filled up on ice cream and
cakes and then got weighed.

burg Musical College will ojieu
July li, 1900. The school is con
ducted by li. B. Moyer. It is one
of the best musical colleges in ( !en
tral Pennsylvania and it has given
somany young people in this section
a musical education that the institu
tion is a household word over a
large proportion of the state. i-7--t.

ciety wishes to acknowledge the re

and 1886, from John H. Knepp,
Middlecreck, Pa. Persons having
old copies of county newspapers,
should not destroy them, but send
them in to the Snyder County His
torical Society.
G. A. Shaffer of Freeburg came
over to the county seat ou Memorial
Day with a nice large list of new
subscribers for the Post. Mr. Shaf
fer is anxious to get the Poet's prize
Chapel Organ for the Ebenezer
church in Washington township.
Mr. Shaffer has discovered that lie
can get votes more rapidly by work
ing for premium coupons.
